LegendHero: You're depending on a bill in a failed nation to solve your pressing and dire problems? That's pure waste of time, tantamounting to crying for the moon. The only viable solution is immediate and ravaging retaliation on all the police stations in the vicinity of the incident. In a failed nation, lawlessness rules, and only lawlessness wins. |

Most of your reps ands senators are on twitter and likewise most of us here...some of us even have the phone numbers and emails of our reps... This suggestion is a good one... If we can bombard the reps and online space with it... Maybe, just maybe... It can be picked up, and passed in the house....you may feel unconcerned or feel its a joke but tomorrow you or someone you know may become a victim of police brutality and the story could be worse than what have seen so far.. |

Kapeter:Frustrated? Lol! A region yours should be a decade ahead after a 3year war and never had a rehabilitation? Today same region holds it head high and you say frustrated? Oga, go tell that to an average Nigerian who can't eat daily when your elites keep relooting recovered funds. Tell that to those terrorist ravaged regions that the Igbo man in his peaceful region is frustrated. Bros, I adapted years ago to this shithole. I already eke out my living expecting nothing from this jungle. Btw you lack understanding and so off-point. For your lil head; I meant, no matter your affiliation condemn wrong whenever it happens and never support it for if you do support it, it will definitely get to you. If people actually spoke up against the excesses of those soldiers during operation python dance, same soldiers will never have the mind to go collecting N1k bribe from people in a war-ravaged area and even making arms passage easy nor would soldiers sleep with IDP campees in exchange for food nor the wicked NPF kill innocent protesters. 1 Like |

Seerade029:So because NK insulted you, you now supported the killings of innocent people and today same armed forces got young men with bright futures and you're pained too and trying to get a solution? Don't you see you're on a carousel? I got angry with GEJ for treating BH as a northern matter (though it is but he was Nigerian President not SS president) when he is the president of all no matter the issue I've got with the northerners. Nothing will make me see someone who insulted me being beaten by the police illegally and I support it. As per trolling, I'm not bothered cos every region in this country is getting their fare share until our brains reroute. |

Re: My Proposed Solution To The SARS And Police Brutality by Cherez: 9:57am On Feb 26, 2020 |
Seerade029:Bros, use your head and not your emotions. I for one NEVER EVER supported NK's rash words even on the President PMB himself but for PMB to tag him a terrorist but turn a blind eye on the herdsmen driving carnage everywhere is evil. Same thing you're doing; leaving the one killing you for the one insulting you. Let's discuss NK a bit; the guy insisted Nigeria is heading for a carnage where the herdsmen will be seek to claim lands and kill people and that the SW will unknowingly support the North in this agenda. Inasmuch as I don't support this statement or how angry it may seem to you, go through NL you will understand that somehow this subtly happened until recently. Now the SW realises it's mistakes and seeks Amotekun, a Northerner went on national TV and said, the SW are primitive in politics (http://saharareporters.com/2020/01/21/yoruba-primitive-politics-creating-amotekun-%E2%80%93miyetti-allah) and Amotekun should be proscribed a terrorist organisation. Bros, is that not insult enough and then they are still killing non-fulanis of which the SW is a part of. Fasoranti's daughter was killed by same herdsmen NK warned about. My QUESTION: Would you prefer I warn you about an impending danger with insults or be killed. You talk like NK never called us Igbos against him pigs, oga NK insulted everyone including MASSOB & Ohaneze Igbo leaders. Forgotten that Ekweremmadu was attacked by same IPOB in Germany? Bros,be more objective than emotional |

I have made this suggestion before, if the DPOs are meant to suffer the consequences of their subordinates they will sit up and monitor their activities, how can a police man leave his area of jurisdiction and enter into another and commit crime unchallenged? What a funny world 1 Like |

Oshigun: You’re right. Buhari is not a good leader and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t understand how to manage the people under him. He doesn’t seems to care about what his appointees are doing and they in-turn already understood this which made most of them behave in the most reckless manner. |

LegendHero:Bros, I troll you not as I got a 24-7 job though I've got an off-day today. See, I'm not even against you and the submission you've got here and like I said no matter the support you gave those vampires, I won't see you real life being molested by any force man (I reject this for you though) and keep quiet. See, all these back and forth started with GEJ not being decisive with BH & sidelining the SW in appointments. Just for PMB's victory which I even supported the Igbos were so trolled even my pals here fired on me but I took it as a normal thing. I strongly condemned KANU and his rash ways but it isn't justificatiin enough to support killing of unarmed people. Even most Igbos threw their support behind Amotekun cos it was the right thing. Always separate emotions from.reasonings. I AM NOT LAUGHING AT THE SO CALLED PREDICAMENT cos we are all together in this and I know those SARS guys are vampires but trying to correct a deed. |

Re: My Proposed Solution To The SARS And Police Brutality by Agboriotejoye(m): 6:15pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
LegendHero: 1. Your cap of four weeks is against the principle of fair hearing as enshrined in the constitution so it will not pass. 2. SARS are not under the DPO. They used to but under Idris they were under the zonal command. I think the present IG put them under area command or so. Holding DPO responsible for the activities of SARS is just like blaming your neighbor for your soup getting burnt. 3. While it's a good idea to hold senior officers responsible for the actions of their subordinates, this can only be acceptable where it is established that the senior actually gave the orders to extort or shoot. If not, the police has a SOP which the officers are expected to follow until an order is given to the contrary by a competent superior officer. That's why they all attend police training schools. 4. Lastly, the fact is that a lot of our policemen are barely educated or where educated, poorly trained and equipped. What I am saying is, if we get more educated people into the force and train them properly, we will see less of this occurrences. Another thing is discipline. Its a norm in Nigeria to see a police officer on weed or getting drunk even during the day. Such acts are why they become easily irritable and trigger-happy. The idea of a special court though could be welcome but the problem is will the judiciary not become overstretched? |
Re: My Proposed Solution To The SARS And Police Brutality by LegendHero(m): 6:30pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
Agboriotejoye:- Possibly they might give a longer time for hearing these kind of cases to meet the constitutional requirements. - In as much as SARS is domiciled under a superior body, the proposition still holds. They may hold the head of the command responsible. Why do we always blame Buhari if any bad thing happens? It is because a leader need to take blame for everything under him. If the command head is not capable of controlling people under him, then he/she should be relieved of the leadership position. That is why I said they should give them some warning period (3 or more). Note: I currently don't understand how the area command is structured. I am assuming they should have a superior which each officers unit reports to. I Understand you bro. But I will reiterate that a senior officer whose subordinates are known to be serial extortionist should be dealt with whether knowingly or unknowingly. What is happening in Nigeria is that there is a strain in the chain of command in the police force. Junior officers most times behave like they are a king of their own. A senior officer that cant control his officers shouldn't be a leader. Nice observation. This needs to be look into by the government too. We need educated people in the police force. Although education is not in any way a guarantee of integrity because I have come to know that the problem with Nigeria is the system itself. No matter how righteous you are, you might have to adjust to the corrupt practices of the agencies of government or the leadership/colleagues arrange your sack or rope you. |
Re: My Proposed Solution To The SARS And Police Brutality by Agboriotejoye(m): 7:11pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
LegendHero: I understand why you say the senior officer should be punished along with their subordinates but I want to bring something to your notice. Which came first, the officers extorting or the senior officers setting targets. Fact is, the senior officers were limited to office bribes of making reports and striking out cases till the junior officers were seen extorting on the roads. Instead of the senior officers to curb it, they simply bought into it. As for the issue of sack or rope, I need you to understand it goes both ways. We once had an IG in this country who once tried to reduce extortion in this country. His name Tafa Balogun. Though massively corrupt too, he put up a stealth team who went round major highways and police posts disguised as civilians and arrested officers who tried to extort them. While this won him accolades, he was set up by his subordinates and exposed. I think he ended up in jail if memory serves me right. The reason I advocate training and higher education plus discipline is because most police officers now see bribery as their right. If you go to a police office, from the barely literate constable at the counter to the inspector up to the DPO, they will all boldly demand bribes of you even if you have done nothing that warrants such. Just go to any police station to make a complaint of a burglary and see how it goes. Truth is, our police needs serious reorientation. They need a name change cause police anywhere in the world is not a force to begin with while they think they are one. They need attitude change because the police is supposed to be a very professional officer and highly polished too. Not the rogues we have. Most importantly, their psyche and outlook need to change. It's not just about holding one individual or the other responsible. It's about a total paradigm shift in the police. |
Re: My Proposed Solution To The SARS And Police Brutality by LegendHero(m): 7:20pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
Agboriotejoye: Yes, I remember Tafa Balogun. You already hit the nail on the head. Total paradigm shift is needed urgently. |

Sometimes I just feel the only solution is to have the required number of police trained as kids abroad in a sane society, from say d age of 10, once they are done we Should bring them back and replace the old hags we have. Sound somehow, but it seem the only solution, unless citizens start targeting them... So unprofessional, they don't even know how to talk, or address people, but come to think of it, they don't try all this sh** up North....... 1 Like |

Paretomaster1: That's not true. In the north, they are more like kings. I've once gone to a DCO office in the north and everyone who I met there sat on the floor bare-footed with their shoes outside. I was confused. I gathered mind to go in wearing my shoes. Of course the DCO was shocked and looked angry. But when he saw I was not a northerner and an educated person at that he kind of piped down. Don't ask me how much I parted with that day though. I had another case where I demanded for the ID of a man who called himself a police sergeant before I could allow him dabble into the matter at hand. You needed to see the reaction of the people around me. It was as if I had committed a mortal sin!! |

He slapped me first is never the beginning of a fight. The loggerhead between Igbos and Yorubas started since 1960, exacerbated by Awolowo when he actively participated in the war when he could have been neutral. Nzeribe went to court to seek an injunction to annul the June 12, 1993 elections which gave the military the excuse they need however Abiola caused it by insensitively picking a Muslim Muslim ticket. So Nnamdi Kanu is not the forcet origo of the tensions LegendHero: 1 Like |

Agboriotejoye: You are saying a different thing entirely, the aggressiveness they show here, and show of force, they don't try it in the North, how many times have u hear of SARS killing or harassing people up North? You may think they r less educated, but the Northerners sure don't take sh** |
Re: My Proposed Solution To The SARS And Police Brutality by Agboriotejoye(m): 10:00am On Feb 27, 2020 |
Paretomaster1:Northerners don't take shit ke? Have you been to a police station in the north? Just go and see what happens there. Like I told you, you don't get to hear of SARS killing or harassing people in the north because they don't even confront them. Over there, they fear people in uniform even FRSC. An average northerner does not go about claiming rights or dragging with them. They simply plead and beg and give all they have. |
