Ondo 2020: Meet The 11 Aspirants Jostling For APC Ticket by buspid: 2:15pm On Feb 27, 2020
As the July 2 and 25 date set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for primaries to hold for the gubernatorial elections in Ondo coming up later in the year moves nearer, the All Progressive Congress (APC) is having not less than 11 aspirants jostling to be the party's flag-bearer.

Apart from the fact that the incumbent governor, Arakunrin Olurotimi Akeredolu is trying hard to secure the party's ticket to seek his reelection, there are also a lot of challenges mounting pressure on him.

There is a formidable team called "Unity Forum", which comprised of strong politicians in the state waging war against the incumbent and it is going to be an herculean task for governor Akeredolu to beat the Unity Forum aspirants to the party's ticket.

Meanwhile, there are not less down 8 aspirants in the Unity Forum vying for the party's ticket and it might be difficult for them to have a consensus candidate, owing to the fact that they are all strong politicians capable of leading the state.

Below is the full list of all the aspirants vying for the APC ticket in Ondo State:

The Ondo State APC Unity Forum aspirants:

1. Olusola Oke

Olusola Alexander Oke is a Nigerian lawyer and politician. Oke was born on 7 April 1956 in Ilowo, a coastal town in Ilaje Local government Area of Ondo State.

Olusola Oke was a top contender for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the state Governorship election in November 2016 before he decamped to the Alliance for Democracy (AD) after the APC primaries. He lost to the incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and eventually decamped back to APC after the election.

2.Chief Bukola Adetula

Adetula is also a law practitioner, who also hails from the same town with the incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

He was the former Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the entire United States of America.

3.Ife Oyedele

Oyedele was born on October 8, 1958, in Okitipupa, Ondo state. He graduated from University of Lagos in 1982 with a BSc in electrical engineering.

Ife Oyedele is an electrical engineer and political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oyedele was appointed as the executive director of engineering and technical services at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) by Buhari in 2016.

4. Olusegun Abraham

Olusegun was born and raised in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State. Olusegun Abraham, born 24 December 1953, is a Nigerian politician and businessman

He was one of the two aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who ran for the office of Governor at the 2016 Ondo State gubernatorial election, but lost out to Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the primaries.

Other aspirants jostling for APC ticket in the Unity Forum are: Olaide Adelami, Akin Awodeyi, Kazeem Olanrewaju and Jimmy Odimayo.

However, there are a handful of other aspirants who do not belong to the Unity forum and they are:

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu

Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, born 21 July 1956 is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is also the Governor of Ondo State.

He is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who became president of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2008.

Akeredolu was awarded ticket to represent the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2016 elections for governor. On Sunday, 27 November 2016, he was declared winner of the keenly contested Ondo State gubernatorial elections.

Isaac Kekemeke

Hon Isaac Kekemeke is a former Minority Leader of Ondo State House of Assembly, the pioneer Chairman of National Examination Council, NECO, Secretary to the State Government and, until recently, the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo.

Joseph Olusola Iji

Joseph Olusola Iji or Comrade Sola Iji (born 7 November, 1956) is a Nigerian from Barate Quarters of Igbobini in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State,

He is Lawyer, a Politician, Trade Unionist and The Ambassador, Embassy of The Federal Republic of Nigeria to The Republic of Togo.

Please we've had enough already. None of these men look clean to me. They all looked like people who in one way or another are involved in funds looting, forgery(both school certificates and in 419). Abeg APC should step up their game if they really want rule long in Nigeria.

Arakunrin Akeredolu all the way! The man has performed beyond expectation (Nigeria standard). Meanwhile if APC fail to put its house in order they might lose out to the opposition in that state. Knowing full well they struggled in last year’s presidential election.
PDP has 2 senators from Ondo state. It means the party is still on ground in that state.

Olusola Oke doesn't understand politics yet. This nivga is just like Atiku, they jump from party to party and make it obvious that they are only interested in the gubernatorial seat. I can bet if he loses the primary again he is going to jump at any available slot. Besides, this election is for Ondo north, Ondo south should calm down biko.
So Isaac Kekemeke, Ife Oyedele, Joseph Olusola Iji, Jimi Odimayo should try their luck 2024.

What do you mean PDP is still on ground in Ondo state?? Ondo state is PDP's strongest hold in the whole of southwest judging from the last election not even Oyo state can come close.
In 2015 APC won 2 senatorial seats out of 3 and 5 House of Rep seats out of 9.
In 2019 APC won 1 senatorial seat out of 3 and 4 house of Rep seats one of which was a PDP decampee. Don't underestimate PDP biko.
