Nigeria isn't doing anything different from the rest of the world on detection.

If we want to be drastic then we ban all international arrivals because country of departure means little.

If you think about it, the easiest place to pick it up in an aircraft with hundreds of people from random places who have in turn visited even more random places and people.

I laud the efforts of the health authorities... But, this was careless!!!

A man coming in from a high risk nation (over 600 confirmed cases) should have been quarantined for at least a week... Had that been done, we would not be having these exchanges.

Now, we are playing catch up, with an uncertain spread ratio, not to mention uncertain containment plans within a populous Lagos state.

When did Italy detect its first case?

Wasnt it just this week?

Are you suggesting this Italian who could have decided to fly out of Switzerland or a neighbouring country should have been quarantined because he came in from italy?

What of the hundreds of other travellers who have made the most random of journeys?

All dis ranting about us being unpatriotic and ignorant, una Dy mad oh. How hard can it be to quarantine anyone coming from a country with a known case of the virus for 14days B4 letting d person roam free. The quarantine should be B4 he leaves the airport since the incubation period is up to 14 days and to be more strict, everyone on the same flight as that person should undergo same measures the best Nigeria could av done is preventing the virus from entering this we country I'm not sure we can do much containing it. Kai if not Dem Chinese for Don contain am by now

So you would quarantine just about every traveller out of Europe, Asia and America.?

My point exactly! In saner climes, new arrivals will first be quarantined for 14 days at the Port of entry, then transferred to their houses for further 14 days of self isolation! All the passengers on board the patient's plane is vulnerable to the virus. Some have proceeded to the East, some to the North and other places! Who will follow them up?

Which saner clime would quarantine every traveller from Europe, Asia and America?

Because there was screening that was why the Italian didn't get through and was taking from the airport straight to hospital. Let's comment with our head and not our heart.

Oga he was not detected at the airport and he was not taken from the airport straight to the hospital , he fell ill in iwekoro ogun and was brought back to Lagos where he was diagnosed

I'm in South Africa and I arrived a week ago with the same screening as shown in the picture.

So what further screening?

The new NCP coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days then how can one know if he/ she is infected ?
Latest information is that the incubation period may be upto 28 days before the symptoms of COVID 19 are evident.

By the time a person has fever and/or cough and goes to the hospital, the lungs are usually 50 % Fibrosis and it's too late !

Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning ;

Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds.
If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stuffiness or tightness , etc , it proves there is no fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicating no infection.

In critical times, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air!

SERIOUS EXCELLENT ADVICE by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases. Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat is moist, never DRY.
Take a few sips of water every 15 mins at least.
WHY ?
Even if the virus does enter into your mouth...drinking water or other liquids will WASH them down through your oesophagus and into the stomach.
Once there , your stomach ACID’s will kill all the virus.
If you don't drink enough water more regularly...the virus can enter your windpipes and into the LUNGS.
That's very dangerous.

Pls send and share with family, friends and everyone about this !

Take care everyone & may the world recovers from corona virus soon.

May all be well & happy.

Bro, the international community is on red alert... They have been for over a month now... Before you go all overtly defensive, try and confirm if there's even provision for quarantine in the first place.

Well, at this point internet banter won't suffice... The reality has finally hit home. Our nation is once again all over the international news!!! How many states of the federation currently have containment plans and facilities in place as we speak??!...

In all, I sincerely hope we truly contain this in the shortest possible time. Just one more case, and the panic skyrockets.

Keep quiet there !!! He came in on the 25 with symptoms , went to the hospital on 26th and his test result came out positive on the 27th so stop saying gibberish ... Today a senator said he wasn't satisfied with the approach of the Buhari govt at the international airport in screen for Covid 19 and he prefered the south African method which didn't allow people leave the aircraft till they were screened as against Inept Buhari method of handing incoming passengers palmphlets with phone numbers to call if they suspect they are sick with any flu like symptoms.

We pray Buharis incompetence doesn't make this worse as nobody trust in his ability to handle such an outbreak
holy f*ck don't you understand a person has to show symptoms before he can be tested the screening is to see if there's symptoms and when he arrives he doesn't have any symptoms don't be dumb.

Is it Jumia that is delaying the delivery of the goods you ordered online or your brothers and sisters (Jumia staff)?

Who do you blame when your bank's ATM debits you without dispensing the cash? The ATM machine or the bank?

Who employed the bribe collecting staff? Who failed to block all bottlenecks and provide enough measures to address corruption?

All over the world, brand and employers take responsibility.

Absolutely nothing.

No screening device used in Heathrow for departures, that I know.

There would always be corruption in a country in which people are not creative and GDP per capita is less than 2000 dollars.

No Angel would come from the sky to change that.

Let's see if in your lifetime corruption would be reduced to a minimum.

Corruption is no respecter of GDP or wealth please. The only cure for corruption is to put the right measures in place to curtail corruption and ensure those who by-pass your measures pay dearly.

If poverty is the key factor for corruption, then why do rich men and women steal? You should study the yam and goat theory.

One question for you.

How did it spread to USA, U.K, Japan and other developed countries? Are you saying there method too is inept or their presidents are incompetent to handle an outbreak such as this?

These things are not as easy as you type them. There are several things that may lead to missing out a positive person when they enter the country. Just don't spew emotional rants because of your dislike for a particular president.
it is not in USA and uk yet

What is the right measure.

The so-called rich people steal because they suffer anxiety often predicated on a past life of penury.

In addition, when it becomes a societal malaise, the rich indulge in it because it is expected.
