Go back n read.. I only saw one insult from a regular stupid nairalander.. y do people always mistake advice for abuse?? Telling one to socialise a pup to avoid aggressiveness at maturity isnt an insult, just few Dog owners kno what an agressive dog is, the rest of the world misuse the term agressive when describing a security conscious dog.. u see as some ekuke dey fine when dem small drn grow to be one ugly long nose dwaf dog?? So today during a short walk with ceaser an ekuke lounged at us from its spot were it was resting with her puppies, in other to prevent it from getting close to my boy i kicked it in its head,was lucky tho as its teeth grazed my footwear without touching my skin... Ceaser was a bit scared at first but later started barking at the ekuke after it started retreating due to the kick from me....lol when i got home i laughed at how unmoved i was at repelling the ekuke's attack

Agh chief if not for the kick that local dog would have bitten me or even worse my pup and i dont have parvo strength....even i have stopped walking ceaser because it seems like the number of local dog at my area is increasing so to avoid story that touches the heart going on walks for now have been on pause till atleast he is 5/6months by then his immune system will be strong even then na once once we go dey go on walk, for now the compound and out side the gate ll have to suffice.

my friends dad who is a vet gave me a boerboel last year as a birthday gift
but now the dog is dead
all because i allowed it roam around our compound with my neighbours ekuke mastiff that was bathed with thick as if it was a natural resource to the dog ,
when my dog got infected i could'nt control it
i tried my best but it yield fruitless effort
now "trigger" is dead

Ceaser is loosing his baby tooth! One just fell off

Wow he I s growing up so fast

Ceaser's aggression is beginning to scale through the roof, yes he started barking at strangers very early i think at 6weeks or so and i started the socialization process imediately by making him meet other pups and people,, it seemed to have worked, as a stranger when he sees you he barks ferociously but i can command him to stay and sniff the person and thats it, he then becomes cool with the person....but since this week i noticed another side of ceaser
whether i use speaker to command him oga will still be barking, this evening a friend of mine whom owned a boerboel was courageous enough to stare him in the eyes continuously as he was still barking,and pulling me.. the guy kept coming closer slowly while maintaining eye contact and bent when he was in touching distance, he extended his hands touched ceaser, ceaser became calm i thought the guy had performed magic then boom! in a split second ceaser went for his hands i had to pull him back and the barking continued...this has been our storyline this week..he allows one to touch him as if he is cool then boom he goes for the hands.....well i have my work cut out for me not complaining tho,i had anticipated the aggression my only mistake was thinking i had successfully socialized him

The barking Is a show of aggression and maturity it will ware off soon.just keep socializing him

Some pups become alert at from 7months up,some even later....i have noticed boerboels are late bloomers in terms of being alert....mine became alert very early i think because it has a rott gene.
For now take them on walks ( please find a route without local dogs so as to avoid parvo ).. you can also try teaching it to them either by playing a video of dogs barking to their hearing they ought to be startled and bark back, you can also try taking them to a compound with another good breed dog to bark at them ( that way they begin learning that other threats exist s hence the need to protect whats theirs ).
The above-mentioned are just fast track means of kickstarting your dogs guard instinct there is no guarantee it ll work, but one thing is certain your pups ll surely become alert its just time and breed
