GEJ Launch Novel On Facebook by oladijom: 7:14am On Dec 22, 2010
Thousands of youths gathered at the expo hall in Lagos to witness the public presentation of the book titled: 'My Friends and I: Conversation on polls and governance via social networking site, Facebook' written by Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan.

The book launch by the President was not all about speeches or politics. It turned out to be a mini musical concert with the likes of renowned Nigerian pop artistes, Dbanj, and award winning 2face Idibia of African Queen fame among others performing.

IT WAS NOT A NOVEL.

Only a collection of his comments and other political trivia lifted from his Facebook page.

The event was another Smart Alect political campaign strategy of Oronto Douglas.

A literary event to booost our reading culture would have been better appreciated with authors coming on stage to demonstrate the joys of reading and performance poetry would have been more appropriate than bringing hip-hop artistes to come on stage and lip-synching their songs that has no positive message on the purpose of the Bring Back the Book campaign.

The youngest Nigerian author, six-year-old Oluebubechukwu Sharon James whose book Freedom or anyone of winners of the ANA/NECO Teen Author Prize is worthy of coming on stage to recite their works and better than bringing  D'banj  or Zaki Azee to come and sing their ditties.
