Don't you think it is too late for the Hausa people to liberate themselves from the ageless shackles of fulanis servitude ? Hausa people are not docile but it remains a mystery ,at least to me, how they willingly submit their destinies ,including their lands ,to the fulanis. I have some of them as friends, trust me,these guys are fantastically brilliant. None of them however, has been able to explain satisfactorily the reason for this master-servant relationship with the fulanis.

What I observe in recent time, however is that some of these Hausa guys don't like to be called fulani. I have a friend in Yauri,Kebbi State who I thought was a fulani man all along until the day I jokingly passed a comment like " you this fulani boy" ! He calmly told me that he wasn't fulani in anyway !

So I think some of these educated young hausa guys are not comfortable with the arrangement but it seems they can't do anything about it ,at least for now.

Majority Hausas are the owners of the land while minority Fulanis are the rulers ! Almost all their governors now are even fulanis ,from Ganduje to Tambuwa,El-Rufai etc. It is a complete domination !

DONSMITH123:
The head of the legal team of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Abubakar Balarabe-Mahmoud, has explained how Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II and his family members were harassed after the deposition of the Emir.

Balarabe-Mahmoud, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, said while Sanusi was waiting for his deposition letter, there was a commotion in the private wing of the palace as some unauthorised persons tried to gain entry into the family section.

The SAN said, “This led to some scuffle and tear-gas canisters were fired by the security operatives. Normalcy was restored after the unauthorised persons along with armed security operatives retreated from the inner part of the palace.”

He said the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria later received the letter which indicated that he was to be moved to Nasarawa State.

Balarabe-Mahmoud stated, “We requested to know if he was under arrest and if so we needed to see the warrant. The Commissioner of Police informed us that he was not under arrest. We informed the Commissioner of Police that it was illegal and a violation of his constitutional rights to remove to Nasarawa State against his wish.

“The Emir informed the Commissioner of Police that his friends had sent an aircraft to fly him and his family to Lagos and requested that they should be provided with necessary security to the airport so that he could leave.

“The commissioner refused saying that was not their instruction. They were willing to allow the family to leave for Lagos but he was to be flown to Abuja then onwards taken to Nasarawa State.”

He said when it was clear that the police were bent on using force to achieve their objective, the Emir cooperated with them in order not to jeopardize his safety, that of his family and persons around.

Balarabe-Mahmoud said the Emir was taken in a private aircraft at 6:40pm, while the family subsequently boarded the aircraft arranged by his friends and departed for Lagos about 15 minutes later.

The United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, today named the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, and 16 other influential figures around the globe as Sustainable Development Goals Advocates to push the agenda of the global development drive to a new height.

The appointments, which were released today, have Mr. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana Ms. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway as co-chairmen of the committee.

The announcement was contained in a statement released to Vanguard by the Special Assistant to the UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Fred Eno.

The statement said: “These 17 influential public figures are committed to raising awareness, inspiring greater ambition, and pushing for faster action on the SDGs, which were adopted by world leaders on 25 September 2015.

“United Nations Member States agreed to accomplish the SDGs by 2030. To build the momentum for transformative, inclusive development by 2030, the Secretary-General’s SDG Advocates will use their unique platforms and leadership to inspire cross-cutting mobilization of the global community.

“We have the tools to answer the questions posed by climate change, environmental pressure, poverty and inequality. They lie in the great agreements of 2015 – the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on climate change.

“But tools are no use if you don’t use them. So, today, and every day, my appeal is clear and simple. We need action, ambition and political will. More action, more ambition and more political will,” said the Secretary-General.

“By joining forces to achieve our goals, we can turn hope into reality – leaving no one behind,” said Co-Chair of the SDG Advocates group Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway.

Said Co-Chair of the SDG Advocates and President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, “This is a time of great hope for the world. If we work smartly together and stay on course, we can raise millions out of poverty and significantly expand basic social services for many more by the 2030 end date of the SDGs.”

The Secretary-General has tasked the advocates with driving that action, building that ambition, and solidifying global political will.

The Advocates represent the universal character of the SDGs, hailing from governments, entertainment, academia, sport, business and activist organizations around the world. The Advocates will leverage and build bridges between their unique audiences, and work together to drive progress.

The Secretary-General has appointed some members of the previous class of SDG Advocates as SDG Advocate Alumni, and looks forward to their ongoing support and engagement.
