"Minister of Transport, Mr. Yusuf Suleiman, yesterday stated that the dredging of the lower River Niger which started in September last year from Warri in Delta State to Baro in Niger State is nearly 100 percent complete." This is not a southeast thing. Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw, Bini, and various tribes in Niger State will benefit(since we are talking about location-wise) |

Personally, i support the dredging of this river! it would not only help the SE economically, It would also help the SW and NE. this would even create employment opportunities for the youths. I SUPPORT IT. Moreover, Lagos is over-crowded and Abuja would follow soon enough. This dredging would further "spread" the population evenly.imo |

Re: Boom For SE: River Niger Dredging, Onitsha Port Near Completion by ekubear1: 8:27am On Dec 23, 2010 |
@oyinda: Pretty much just scraping dirt out of the river bottom (and I guess sides) to widen and deepen the river. Allows you to safely bring larger ships up the river, which are more profitable. At least this is my inference from the articles I've read. |

Is anyone on ground in the east to tell us the true feasibility of the so called ports. Still wondering how the ports will be jump started or routes without a temporary close down of apapa. Or is this another hoax from these ministers like Mr Facebook. As for the airport that looks like a biafran airstrip during a war. |
