The place of traditional rulers in a democracy is appallingly parasitic.
They have no powers and can be rubbished and removed by any democratic government.

For the traditional rulers to be relevant in a democracy, they should be appointed governors and LG chairmen in their domains.

Lari03r:

Lol, what repercussions did Fayose face?

Please don't further expose the sheer powerlessness of the Obas' when financial muscle is considered. Fayose was a thorn in the flesh to the man.

To the extent that Fayemi was disrespected by the Oba of Ado-Ekiti openly championing the cause of PDP in 2010 before the court judgment which ousted Segun Oni, and subsequently it took a while before they began to support his government after Fayemi's 1st term began.

Fayemi can dethrone all 16 of them if he wants, as he is the defacto Pelupelu(Authority) in the land as things stand.

Mentioning the Kiriji war from the Alaafin, I am disappointed by this information from the palace because the great Ekiti warriors who fought the wars were arrested by the British colonialists.

If the letter from the Alaafin was to invite the British, then it goes to show that Oyo which had fought with Ado-Ekiti within a space of 20-50 years, before the Kiriji wars with the Tapas', wrote those letters out of jealousy to stem the rise of mighty Ekiti Warriors, who would have gone ahead to conquer their enemies and seek to extend their influence.

So this Greek gift in form of a letter is not welcome, brothers we are, but let all Yorubas know that the sons of Oduduwa are the Kings and not the followers and generality of the Ekaaro Ojire people.

Oduduwa means "falsehood/trickery became a habit/character". Let that information sink in, then you will understand why the Kings are surrounded by Ogbonis and Oloyes, steeped in deep esoteric occultic mysticism.

The Kings themselves are from one source and they came to power via occultic schemes and they spread from Ikorodu to Benin using occultic powers of divination and sorcery to ascend the thrones, if this is the season for them to receive the sum total of the accumulated reward of their treachery and that of their forefathers, who are we to complain on their behalf?

While the traditional institutions must be respected, we need history and context to set our opinions right at a time when cultural realignment may be in sight.

Paragraph 1 -3
Fayose suffered disgrace and was humiliated during Ewi of Ado's daughter wedding. (in a church)
Even mimiko and other kings couldn't intervene.. He was disgraced.
He even came back to Ewi palace and beg cause after the election was over he was not able to enter government house or so. It happened in 2018.
Did you know how fayose humiliated Ewi in 2003

Paragraph 4
I didn't say Fayemi can't dethroned them.
But ther will be chaos and crisis in the land and the governor won't be able to curtail it.

Paragraph 5 - 6
I don't know about that.

betrayed by akintola, jailed for treason even when he did nothing, lost his lawyer son while in prison.. just the few things he suffered few years after even when the desposed alafin said he held no grudge
Except for the death of his son, all other things you mentioned were expected at that time in the political clime in Nigeria for an ambitious person like himself.
Baba died as an icon and one of the greatest statesman in Nigeria. A leader still being referenced till date. Our Monarch are mere ceremonial leaders in this era that can be dethroned and nothing will happen.

And don't tell me is not possible or it never happened.

Lol @ Number 11. It's like the Alaafin did not get the memo. Government owns the state (land inclusive).

I don't know why but I'm enjoying these interesting power tussle/show down between traditional and political rulers.

The message has been delivered clearly to the governor, It is left for him to take the advice and abandon the path of destruction that he’s on.

We only have 16 crowned kings in Ekiti, others are coronet kings or baale. The governor cannot out of petty vindictiveness appoint a coronet king to sit as chairman over the crowned kings and except them to accept like that. He should reverse the appointment and seek an amicable resolution to the problem.

It's not a cursed that pushed him to his fall but greediness and self centred pushed him to his downfall.. Go back to history He gave Akintola post and run for the presidency which he lost and wanted to return back to the post.. You can't chase two things at a time and he who live by the sword n plan coup shall also died by the sword.

According to the Yoruba culture and tradition, what you have just said is called Sisesise or Eedi(Unconscious Mistake) as a result of spiritual attack.

If they give him the bode Thomas treatment now the world will start crying, it's just a position you hold for 4 years,I could remember those days otunba gbenga Daniel as a governor used to sit on the floor beside the awujale's throne during ojude oba then.
I guess there are levels to this kingship of a thing.
even Tinubu usually sits on the floor next to oba of lagos. And they always go praying together every eid.

Fayemi dare not try nonsense with Yoruba culture.. we are different from those peepz up North.

For the Alaafin to write warning him, it's Sango that will smoke his entire lineage if he tries nonsense.
Where is Sango when the older Alaafia was dethroned and banished for his entire life
Where is Sango to warn an 82 years Alaafia to stop procreating with young Oloris who are younger than his grandaughter
Where is Sango..

There's nothing like Edi (hypnotized) here , it's thirst for power, greediness and self centred that brings him down.. He wants to chop alone that's why he signed some deals to himself and family which his family still benefits till today. We all thought he's doing it for the masses but yet he's doing it for himself.. He plans coup too.

Lol. That’s the extent of the king’s so called power. He can only go spiritual. He can’t enter the government house and chase the governor away, can he?

Kings avoid direct confrontations with their governors cos things can go south quickly.

Both kings and governors act a script for the sake of culture but a king knows where the power lies.

Baba you are referring to legbere kings. There are some of such legbere kings in yoruba land these days but not a king in the stature of this present Alaafin, Ooni, Awujale and co. Akala tried to dethrone Alaafin while he was governor. He failed! He never saw a second term in office sef.

Spritual powers or not, his powers are his powers. Btw d Yorubas revere their kings to a great extent. I am sure Fayemi have gotten d message in that letter. He could threaten the kings in Ekiti but with the weight Alaafin have put behind those kings, I am sure Fayemi would have a rethink.

Oba Lamidi Adeyemi represents a kind of figure that is lacking amongst northern monarchs and monarchs in some other parts. All of them just carry name put for head, acting like puppets to their respective governors. Imagine king weh dey comot water for eyes because say dem give am emir title. Wahala never dey? Lol

You are making it look as if he spent a larger percentage of his life in prison. Yes, he went to prison and may not have enjoyed over there, but his life after his prison stay was as great as it was before going to prison. He came out of prison to hold a strong position and play a major role in the civil war. He was also at the forefront as an aspirant to rule Nigeria and could have won if not for election magomago. Even the likes of Gani Fawehinmi went to prison. Olusegun Obasanjo at one point in Nigeria history and struggle had a taste prison life. Does that belittle their greatness?

The way some of you react foolishly to issues is appalling. Those 16 kings came together to create the Ekitiparapo army that fought Ibadan ajeles. It was their struggle that led to the creation of Ekiti State. They were there long before Ekiti State was created.

Fayemi should disregard whatever Alaafin Oyo is saying.
He that must come To equity must come with a clean hand. Alaafin of Oyo is under Ooni of Ife.
The most senior king in Yoruba land is Ooni of Ife. And Alaafin of Oyo has been found usurping the authority of the Ooni of Ife, in many cases, the case of appointing wasiu ayinde as Mayegun being a recent example. He does not not deserve to be taken seriously!
