@D-Sense, I will assume that you are not very serious about calling the Blackberry initiative a blah blah blah. Research has shown that in 10- 15 years from now, desktops and laptops might be in computer archives and most people are going to be accessing websites using their smartphones. |

I can not do this but just suggesting Nairaland is not for SEUN alone, is for all(9ja) both Home and Away, Igi kan o le da igbo se. |

@d1twista, I read your reply on my Blackberry but could not reply again until I get to my laptop. This is a prime example. All we need to implement is an app people will download to their smartphone and do all NL transaction there. We can pilot an initiative to make developing the app an open source project. I am very sure there are people who are very knowledgeable about this and will be willing to volunteer to make this a reality. |

@sting_224 - (blackberry sucks) hmmmmmm. If you don't embrace change, it'll kick you out. I lauded the nairaland-mobilephone-version initiative. Won't be a bad idea to have a blackberry version too. More than 40% of my friends on fb make their posts via one mobile device or the other. Mobile device compliant sites are no longer the future, they are already here, |

I don't use a blackberry but if bb's cannot post on nairaland them I guess their browsers are useless. I made this post from my phone using opera mini. I know mtn has blocked opera on phones which is unfortunate but geez, why have a 60 grand phone that can't post on nairaland? @Seun, you should consider a more comprehensive mobile site, NOT just for bb's , The world is shifting. |

Re: Nairaland For Blackberry by sweetpawn1: 2:36am On Dec 26, 2010 |
HMM! NICE IDEA INDEED! BUT I DOUBT THE OWNERS OF THE SITE WILL SUPPORT YOU! AFTER DESIGNING 3 DESKTOP APPS FOR NL, I WAS BANNED THREE TIMES AND MY LAST POST WAT DELETED! OUT OF FRUSTRATION, I BOYCOTTED THE SITE FOR 1 MONTH, ONLY TO COME BACK TO FIND THAT MY ENTIRE THREAD FOR DOWNLOADING THE 3 APPS WAS GONE (DELETED!) AND THAT I WAS BANNED PERMANENTLY FOR 'PHISHING'! HOW CAN I PHISH IF I WASN'T LOGGED IN FOR A MONTH! ALL I COULD GATHER WAS THAT THOSE WERE JUST FLIMSY EXCUSES TO REMOVE WHAT THEY HAD NOT DESIGNED THEM SELVES! WHO EVER TAKES ON THIS PROJECT ( AND I WAS JUST WORKING ON A JAVA MOBILE APP FOR NL THAT WOULD RUN ON ALL JAVA ENABLED PHONES BUT DELETED IT WHEN I DISCOVERED WHAT HAPPENED) DOES SO AT HIS/HER OWN RISK. NL ONLY BELONGS TO THE ADMINISTRATORS WHO CAN BAN YOU AND DELETE YOUR THREAD WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE! BE-WARNED! I WAS THEIR SCAPE GOAT! |
Re: Nairaland For Blackberry by NumberOne2(m): 8:10am On Dec 26, 2010 |
@sweet-pawn, why would you design a NL app without informing the owners of the site? Well, I think you're lucky. In some countries you'll be in jail right now. I'm sure you tried to sell the apps and make money off NL, whereas NL is FREE. |
Re: Nairaland For Blackberry by lekside44(m): 1:17pm On Dec 26, 2010 |
Well we should encourage those who wants to develop app for nl. However this could be organised with a body set up to monitor things |
Re: Nairaland For Blackberry by sweetpawn1: 9:57pm On Dec 27, 2010 |
Number_One: BROTHER, WHY WOULD I SELL IT? WHO WOULD BUY? BROS THE THING WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREE! WELL , I DID NOT INFORM THEM ( THOUGH I BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE BEEN SNUBBED IF I DID!) BUT I BELIEVE THEY WERE NOT AGAINST IT ( INITIALLY) AS MY THREAD WAS 'STICKIED' TO THE TOP OF THE COMPUTER SECTION BOARD JUST LIKE THE ' GAME DEVELOPMENT' TREAD ABOVE IN THE PROGRAMMING BOARD! IF THEY WERE AGAINST IT, I DOUBT THE MODERATOR WOULD HAVE PUT IT UP THERE! WELL, I AM NOT DISCOURAGING ANY ONE FROM DOING IT O! I AM JUST TELLING Y'ALL THE RISK FROM MY EXPERIENCE! NOBODY WILL PAY YOU FOR IT! THE ONLY JOY IS WHEN FELLOW NLERS THANK YOU FOR IT. THAT WAS THE REWARD I CHERISHED! I GAIN MUCH FORM IT, AS IT ENABLED ME TO DESIGN THE MOBILE VERSION OF THE APP, BUT AFTER THIS DEVELOPMENT, I THINK I WILL TAKE MY SKILLS TO ANOTHER FORUM WHERE IT WILL BE BETTER APPRECIATED. IN FACT I AM LOOKING FOR OTHER AFRICAN HOT FORUMS WHERE I CAN MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND INTRODUCE MY STUFF THERE. AS THEY SAY ' A PREACHER IS HONORED EVERY WHERE BUT IN HIS HOUSEHOLD ' SO LET ME TAKE MY TALENT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY OF BLACK BLOOD! |

Hi All, I know that the call is a good one, but for now, getting a STABLE Mobile apps for forums is not very easy, I know so much that if a stable one is around the conner, It will be profitable for all of us, and even the Management of NR. But if anyone knows any Stable Mobile Pack (Modifications) for both smf and phpbb3, then you can give a tested and trusted link. |
