Coronavirus And The African Christian - by meavox: 7:03pm On Mar 16, 2020 |
CORONAVIRUS AND THE AFRICAN CHRISTIAN By Christianity for Africans Coronavirus may well be here to stay. We do NOT know yet but it could be somewhat like the Flu (Influenza) virus which you will get once every year or every two years, then recover to get it again a year or so later. Coronavirus is spread by droplet infection. That means an infection transmitted from one individual to another by droplets of moisture from the nose and mouth through sneezing or coughing. If we are truly a Christian with God’s Holy Spirit living within us to guide us, then we will be concerned for the wellbeing of others, and we would not do what would endanger or hurt them. African Christians should therefore be a hygienic people at all times, not just when there is FEAR of Coronavirus! • STOP picking your nose • STOP touching your face • USE a tissue to blow your nose • USE a tissue to sneeze into • USE a tissue to cough phlegm into • USE a tissue to spit into It is very unfortunate that because of very high corruption we lack public toilets so there is much open urination and open defecation so NO HAND WASHING. We therefore urge Christians to find ways to lower the risks from their hands such as taking along small pieces of soap plus sachet water with them. We also believe African Christians should use your church, family and work connections, time, energy and resources to fight for there to be public toilets for us all to use. Although it is not in the Bible, the saying that “Cleanliness is next to godliness” is implied in Scripture. We can see it to be true because when the Holy Spirit lives within an individual, that person becomes aware of his and others’ humanity, and of what is good or bad. That person is concerned about things that harm others and will stop them. That person will be sensitive to beauty, so choose to live in cleanliness and tidiness. Therefore, just as “Cleanliness is next to godliness”, another equally true saying is that “Filth follows ungodliness”. FILTH announces the presence of ungodly attitudes and behaviours. Filth and unhygienic practices attract disease. A true Christian is Light so will not be among those keep Africa in a filthy state. Coronavirus is here, so are many other diseases. African Christians should get involved in activities that are helpful to the community. We know that God watches our efforts and our lifestyles, and He will reward us according as we deserve. Amen.
