Did you know that for every specific degree you have, there are several jobs you can hold and make money from? This is a fact that is still unknown to so many people out there, especially those who are still enrolled in the university system and those who are yet to hold down a job. We see a lot of people who are job hunting and are adamant about exploring career opportunities in fields that are not the same as what they studied in the university. There is no better time to indulge in several career options than now in the information age. At Lingo Africa, the foremost human capital development platform, we encounter a lot of people who stay fixated on the options a specific degree provides. However, there are so many viable work options available to qualified people that do not necessarily have to be within the confines of their university degrees. Case in point, we once had a client who was tired of applying to Bank jobs and came to us for an exclusive resume and cover letter review and because she felt she wasn’t doing enough to attract job offers. It turns out that her resume and cover letter was in order. So, what was the problem? One of the in-house consultants at Lingo Africa, the foremost human capital development platform in Abuja, Nigeria, went beyond the regular Q&A session to delve into the client’s work application history and found that she had been restricting herself to a certain role within the Banking industry. when asked why she said it was due to the fact that she had studied Accounting in school and with that specific degree, she felt that she could only work at a Bank! Our consultant had to put her through a one-on-one session discussing various career paths, where she could explore and apply to jobs in. This was in 2018. Now, she is gainfully employed at an NGO and she has gone ahead to become certified in Monitoring and Evaluation, which is a needed skill in social development. She is thriving because she decided to do something different from where her specific degree had previously led her to. Are you still thinking that in order to flourish in your career, you need to work in a particular office or in a specific role that is directly connected to a specific degree? The world has moved beyond that. Allow Lingo Africa, the foremost human capital development platform in Abuja, Nigeria to consult with you based on a plan specific to your natural skills and capabilities, so, you can discover yet unseen opportunities and make better decisions for your career growth.
