My position is as follows: According to scripture there should be no teaching/preaching within a new covenant church. I would go further and say that if teaching/preaching is deemed necessary by your church leaders it can only mean one of two things. Either the leaders consider the fellowship to be comprised of unbelievers or the leaders themselves are unbelievers.

Consider this scripture and tell me if I am wrong Hebrews 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

This read in context is refering to New Covenant believers.

what you should rather have said is. "CAN SOMEONE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND HEB8:11"?
it's not making reference to the church. If you ask properly I will answer you. grin

@mikeg

The identity of the person behind and responsible for writing Hebrews is still a mystery

It’s hard to pin down the writer - Paul has been ruled out by virtue of style.

Nonetheless the fact remains that the writer's intended audience rightly wasn’t the church just as Joagbaje pointed out

Dont read Hebrews 8:11 in isolation . . .

Hebrews 8:11 is a carbon-copy or an almost exact likeness of Jeremiah 31:34

The penny will drop if you put Jeremiah 31:27-34 side by side with Hebrews 8:1-13

and then read and compare their verses

Classic Old Testament concealing the New Testament

and New Testament revealing the Old Testament wink

Thanks for the reference to Jeremiah it was encouraging to read reference to the house of Judah again. I hold back from saying that the new covenant has "nothing" to do with church and prefer to take the position that much of ( what calls itself church ) has nothing to do with the new covenant.

As to the human author of Hebrews I accept there is debate but I believe little as to whether it is inspired and of course we know who it is written to ( according to the name ) to those beyond.

Thank you too for the offer to help my understanding. One of many things at which I find myself perplexed though is not so much the scriptures but things like God clearly establishing and naming the church Heb 7:11 and yet we find churches by every name one could imagine, of which nothing is written, all claiming to be God's church. Very odd!

@mikeg

Please would you shed light on what exactly is ruffling your feathers

Spell out and make obvious to the dot what particularly is rocking your boat

What specifically is very odd?

This is a future prophecy, primarily for Israel. The salvation of Israel is going to be a national thing and not individual. Presently they are still in darkness. And they've not embrace the new testament yet. We recognise that some few Jews are born again but  the salvation for Israel is as a state. When they finally fulfil the 7th week of Daniel 9. The scripture will be fulfilled .

This read in context is refering to New Covenant believers

It's primarily Israel and they are yet to embrace the new covenant.

Romans 11:25-26
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
