COVID-19: Kwara Govt Imposes Lockdown by HonMike: 3:18am On Mar 26, 2020
Kwara State Government has imposed a partial lockdown from 6 am on Thursday 26th March 2020 as a preventive measure against the spread of Coronavirus.

State Deputy Governor Mr Kayode Alabi, who announced this at a news briefing, said all motor parks, public transportation including motorcycle, tricycle and taxis are banned from operation effective from Friday morning.

Mr Alabi added that all social gatherings are banned forthwith and that churches and mosques remain closed.

He, however, noted that only food stores and pharmacies are allowed to open at the market, stressing that eateries are only to sell take away to their customers.

All hostels and shopping malls must make provision for temperature checking and hygiene, using infrared handheld thermometers and hand sanitisers. 

The Deputy Governor, who called on residents to remain calm, gave an assurance that security measures are to ensure compliance with the directive and sanctions await anyone caught contravening the rules.

The lock down however is starting tomorrow morning but effective from 6am on Friday to afford people stuck up food and for payment of salary.
