Apple has reportedly updated Siri on iPhone to offer device owners an additional resource for finding information about coronavirus and its symptoms. As the outbreak continues to affect more users every day, the newly added feature won’t solve every issue surrounding the lack of information, but may prove useful to those in need of some clarification.

While the coronavirus pandemic continues to prove a problem, so does information on the topic in general. Tech companies have been looking to overcome this issue by cutting down on content that’s deemed misinformation and highlighting authority content, while making information on COVID-19 more accessible overall. For example, Google now highlights information in Search and YouTube, and is also working on a website solution through Verily. One of the ways that Apple appears to be helping out is through a new on-device and voice-activated feature.


According to CNBC, users have started realizing Apple recently updated Siri with better coronavirus support. Essentially, users can now turn to the voice assistant on their iPhone to find out basic information on the virus, and even check their symptoms. According to the CNBC report, the feature is currently only available to iPhone owners based in the US, and there’s currently no indication if the feature will roll out to users in other countries.
