Delta State Com¬missioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has enjoined recent visitors into the state, especially those from high-risk areas, to observe a 14-day self-isolation period.

Making the call in Asaba while briefing newsmen on the status of the state since the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria a month ago, the Commissioner said the quarantine was to limit local trans¬mission of coronavirus.

Stressing on the restriction of movement within the state on the orders of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa which takes effect from Wednesday, Aniagwu said the stringent measures were taken among others to avert any outbreak of the pandemic or contain its spread in case of any eventuality.

On the state’s preparedness, the commissioner said that 19 ventilators have been dedicated to handling critical cases of COVID 19, noting that holding centres have also been es¬tablished across the state.

He appealed to religious and faith-based organizations that have become so rich to financially assist their congregants during the lockdown period rather than place more demands on them.

Similarly, he enjoined residents to comply with the government by adhering to medical advice and directives in the fight against coronavirus.
