Government of Plateau State has ordered the cessation of movement in and out of the state to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

The order was made known on Thursday 2nd April 2020 by Professor Danladi Atu, who is the Secretary to the State Government.

In his briefing on actions of the state government in response to the deadly coronavirus, Atu noted that all border entry points into the state are directed to close with effect from Thursday.

He noted that this measure is inevitable in the fight against the ravaging COVID-19, and will enable government intensify efforts to avoid a case in the state since there hasn’t been one yet or fight it if it happens . He added that entrance or exit into the state will cease exempting essential services that would be cleared by security agents and preliminary test by health workers.

The SSG revealed that the state government has been receiving cash donations including food supplies and medical equipment. He also stated that a leading financial institution has donated N28.5 million while the Academic Staff Union of Universities have offered hand sanitizers and enlightenment as part of its contribution to efforts geared towards combating coronavirus in the state.
