To sum it up in one sentence, pixel-binning is a process that sees data from four pixels combined into one. So a camera sensor with tiny 0.9 micron pixels will produce results equivalent to 1.8 micron pixels when taking a pixel-binned shot.

Pixel binning is the combination of smaller pixels into larger pixels to get a better image resolution. If I'll concede that fine, 48mp is a go on the Helio P35's 13+13mp configuration, how do you plan on explaining the 64mp (16mp binned photos)?

Finally going by your own comment, if this camera works suboptimally, won't that be a slap in the face of the customers?

It's no business of mine if it works optimally or not, my goal here is to point it out to you that the phone is equipped with a 64/48mp camera module, you can try the device out and see if it performs sub optimally, although I doubt it would.
