The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to its knees and we all are hoping for the best in the not so distance future as regards solution to the disease.

But while the world awaits a permanent fix, some dubious individuals decided to come up with solutions of their own.

You probably have heard things like:

"Alcohol would prevent you from the disease",

"If you live in a sunny region your chances are reduced"

I have personally read that if you've gotten the virus, it will destroy 50% of your lungs and stay permanently in the body.

The World Health Organization (WHO) wants you to know what is true and created a detailed list of myth about the new Coronavirus.

We picked eight of the most relevant for you.

Myth 1: The coronavirus can't survive in Sunny Regions, therefore exposing yourself to the sun prevents the disease.

The Truth: Countries with extremely hot weathers have reported cases of coronavirus.

Qatar, Ethiopia, Botswana, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Bahrain, Jamaica, Malaysia, India, Indonesia according to Legit are the 10 hottest countries in the world and they have reported a combined 11,220 confirmed cases of coronavirus. (Source:Worldometers)

Countries with hot weather have reported cases of COVID-19.

Myth 2: You can't recover from coronavirus and it won't ever leave your body

The Truth: There are people who caught coronavirus and have recovered and eliminated the virus from their body.

Most COVID-19 patient recover if they are given proper health care.

As the time of writing, confirmed world wide cases stand at 1,084,015 with 227,745 recovery. One survivor shared her story, you can read it here.

Myth 3: Holding Your Breath for 10 seconds could signal you're coronavirus free.

The Truth: Holding your breath for a long period is not a sign you are free of a lung disease and definitely not coronavirus.

Holding Your Breath Could signal you are coronavirus free is not true.

The best and the only way to confirm, is to get tested. If you're a Nigerian and notice any of the symptoms of the disease, please call the Nigeria Center for Disease Control on this toll free number 080097000010.

Myth 4: Alcohol will protect you against coronavirus.

The Truth: Alcohol is dangerous and will do you more harm than good. There is no proof it will protect you against COVID-19.

Alcohol is a confirmed carcinogenic, read more about foods that have been linked to cancer.
