Nigeria's government plans to take up as much as $6.9 billion from multilateral lenders to counter the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on Africa's largest oil producer economy.

The state will seek $3.4bn from the International Monetary Fund, $2.5bn from the World Bank and another $1bn from the African Development Bank, Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed told reporters Monday in the capital, Abuja. Officials have no plans to join an IMF program, she said.
