The Police in Lagos state on Monday said the ‘Tesumole’ crooner, Azeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley, is now in its custody and would be charged to court tomorrow. Police spokesman in the state, DSP Bala Elkana, in a statement, confirmed that Naira Marley “is now in Police custody,” adding that “he will also be charged to Court for violating the restriction orders.” Daily Trust reports that a chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos had sentenced Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele Bello and her hubby, Abdulrasheed Bello, to a 14-day community service each for flouting the state government’s lockdown order.

Akindele-Bello, popularly called Jenifa, was charged alongside her husband for organising a birthday party with more than 20 persons in attendance contrary to the social distancing order by the Federal and Lagos State governments. The party had in attendance some of her friends including Naira Marley.

Elkana said: “Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley is now in Police custody. He will also be charged to Court for violating the restriction orders. “The Command has launched a manhunt for the remaining persons who attended the party. “The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc, expressed his profound gratitude to Lagosians and other well-meaning Nigerians that speak up against the violations. Together we can stop the spread of COVID-19.”

Daily Trust reports that Chief Magistrate Yewande Aje-Afunwa had on Monday also ordered Akindele-Bello and her hubby, Abdulrasheed Bello also known as JJC Skillz to pay N100,000 fine each and also asked them to be kept in compulsory self-isolation for 14 days. The Court handed down the judgement after the couple pleaded guilty to a one-count criminal charge of violating the law restricting movement in Lagos state.

Before the court sentence on Monday, Nigerians on social media, especially Instagram and Twitter, had blasted Akindele-Bello and other attendees for violating the government’s lockdown order.
