ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

The World Bank Graduate Scholarships Program contributes to the World Bank Group's mission of forging new dynamic approaches to capacity development and knowledge sharing in the developing world.
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP) is a fully-funded scholarship open to women and men from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries' development efforts; who are applying to a master degree program in a development-related topic. Since 1987, JJWBGSP has enabled more than 6,000 mid-career professionals from developing countries and Japan to complete graduate degrees in development-related fields. On an annual basis, the Government of Japan solely funds the JJWBGSP.
The JJWBGSP are available under two programs; preferred university masters program and partner university masters program. These programmes cover a wide array of courses from various universities in the US, Europe and Japan.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants can apply for scholarships to both Preferred and Partner Programs. The process to apply to a Preferred Program and a Partner Program differs:
To apply for a scholarship to attend a preferred program, applicants would use the application form available on the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program website. In contrast, those who wish to enrol for courses under the JJWBGSP partnership program must first apply for admission to one or more of the Partner Master's Degree Program(s) to the respective University.

SELECTION PROCEDURES
After reviewing submitted applications, each Partner Master Degree Program will identify a shortlist of eligible candidates who will then be invited by the JJWBGSP Secretariat to apply for a JJWBGSP scholarship. Multiple applications for the JJWBGSP is not acceptable. If an applicant is accepted unconditionally (except for financing) to more than one JJWBGSP preferred master's degree program, the applicant must decide before submitting his/her Scholarship Application which of the master degree he/she seeks JJWBGSP funding.
