Lockdown: Soldiers Storm Gbagada Expressway, Punishes Fitness Enthusiasts

Law enforcement authorities, including soldiers, have dispersed fitness enthusiasts on Gbagada expressway in Lagos after residents raised alarm over the incident which violated the social distancing order by the government.

Chief Press Secretary of the Governor of Lagos, Gboyega Akosile, said on Wednesday on that soldiers ‘swung into action’ to prevent recurrence of the incident.

He said: “Stay At Home but you MUST go out in the name of exercises. So the Nigerian security agencies including the army, have swung into action to make it easier for them to burn the calories this morning on Gbagada Expressway. This looks like frog jump.”

The Federal Government had on March 30 imposed a 14-day lockdown on Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

When the little food you have stocked up runs out after extended weeks of lockdown, I'll see how much "sense" you have left after starving for 2-3 days. If you are fortunate to be financially buoyant, don't take it for granted. It could be you tomorrow.
