Nigeria is one place where tourism and hospitality is making really good progress. The tourism and the hospitality industry are attracting deals of foreign direct investment; unfortunately some states especially those in the northern part of the country are far behind in tourism and hospitality development.
The problem with tourism and hospitality development in the northern part of the Nigeria is the issues of armed banditry and terrorism. This made most foreign investors to take their resource elsewhere.
States like Akwa Ibom, Rivers state, Abuja, Lagos have good sites for tourism attraction and hospitality development. This made the economic development in these states faster than the rest.
But there are other ways states in Nigeria especially those in the middle belt and northern and western part of the country can improve tourism and hospitality through cultural tourism.
There so many Undergraduate Project Topics that is related cultural tourism. One can easily find such topics under the department of Tourism And Hospitality Project Topics.
Cultural tourism has a long history, and with its roots in the Grand Tour is arguably the original form of tourism. It is also one of the forms of tourism that most policy makers seem to be betting on for the future.
The World Tourism Organisation, for example, asserted that cultural tourism accounted for 37% of global tourism, and forecast that it would grow at a rate of 15% per year. Such figures are often quoted in studies of the cultural tourism market (e.g. Bywater, 2003), but are rarely backed up with empirical research.
The federal government of Nigeria through the state government can improve cultural tourism and empower both the young and the adult. There is need to channel funds to the cultural centers in each state and the mass media to broadcast the rich cultural heritage Nigeria is bless with.
