ANAMBRA State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has said that without the determination of his team, the state would not have become Nigeria’s fourth largest economy, noting that he inherited a state with an average ambition.

He also stated that through strategic refocusing, the state had been positioned as one with the greatest chances of producing the most surprising development results in the next five years.

Obiano, who said this in Lagos at a breakfast meeting entitled: Investment Promotion and Protection: The Anambra State Experience, Challenges, and Opportunities, said that coming up with an antidote to crime ensured that he achieved results in Anambra.

In 2014, Anambra’s GDP was estimated at $13.5 billion. This accounts for three per cent of Nigeria’s GDP and would rank 122 in the world or 24th in Africa if the state were to be a country. With only N3.993 billion debt, the state has the lowest domestic and foreign debt profile among the 36 states. The state’s economy is unarguably the fourth largest among states, after Lagos, Abuja and Rivers.

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) 2017.

Chest beating is good until you start beg people for food or beg FG for COVID-19 support.

Anambra has no single covid19 case , besides we haven't heard of hunger in anambra, or suicide cause of hunger in the entire south east

The ranking was close but they were off a few billion dollars measuring the GDP. At least the CBN admitted they didn't have reliable data in their report. Lol I just find it funny the Obiano took credit for an unconfirmed accomplishment. Anyway the NBS should release the full listed and get it updated to current 2019.

Anambra is fourth largest economy without all I listed, imagining where Anambra is heading....

You've started again with this again? Do you want to add your caveats like last time? Please let us know what's the states GDP is and who calculated it. Also mention which state Anambra leapfrogged since 2017 to earn the number 4 spot.
