The Government of the Republic of Benin has held many Nigerians for failing to pay quarantine fees after being kept for 14 days on fears of COVID-19.

A source in Cotonou said Nigerians are made to pay as much as N900, 000.00 as a fee, depending on the hotel they are forced to stay.

There is palpable fear the Beninoise authorities are bent on punishing Nigerians for President Muhammadu Buhari’s border closure policy.

I believe they see it as avenue to pay back after border closure. Average Benin officials are very wicked. When they see any Nigerian plate number or see you as Nigeria, they believe money has come. They will make sure they extort you to the last. Worst thing they will never speak language like English or yoruba you understand so that you get more confused. Bunch of idiots. In this pandemic that they supposed to be careful as many travellers are carrier, so they choose to be this stupid by keeping them further. 2 weeks from now will teach them lesson.
