What Has Atiku Contributed To D Development Of Nigeria With All His Time In Govt by MaJBlige(f): 11:41pm On Jan 03, 2011 |
In customs. In government. I even heard this man was dismissed from the Nigerian Customs. This man headed the privatisation project, selling most public businesses to himself and his cronies. This man was in government for 8 years, amassing wealth for and to himself and his family. This man now runs a University where he claims he pays his teachers $1million PA. What has this man got in his portfolio to make him suitable to come around and want to rule Nigeria as a President? What? To steal us dry again? To buy more houses in Poto? To fight everyone and offer nothing worth talking about? What? |

Good question but don't restrict it to, just Atiku alone, include his opponents and friends. |

Ma_J_Blige: GEJ was in Nigerian Customs, hall of academia, a deputy governor, governor, vice president and now president yet could not significantly point at one concrete achievement. In the light of your question, Atiku is even the lesser of the two evils. |

im nt an ATIKU fan (yet), still on the fence. but questioning his achievement , ? while in customs, he introduced rotation of officer amongst the port, to reduce complacency and monotonousness and infuse enthusiasm and improve moral. (nt so sure tho), had a family friend in customs who mentioned it sometime ago. long time. while at the presidency: he single handedly convinced soludo, ngozi okonji and ezekwesilli to come back to Nigeria to help out. he was the one that picked elrufai and ribadu, YES RIBADU and made him EFCC chairman. while the BPE chairman he successfully sold off GSM licences- licences that brought about MTN and co. He successfully sold licences for private indigenous airlines- we had SLOK, ARIK, DANA, BELLVIEW, VIRGIN. He successfully privatized eleme protrochemical, nadfco- fertilizer co, AP -FG shares, , . . . and over 15 other government companies. HOLD ON, THAT MIGHT SEEM LIKE NOTHING BUT U KNOW WHAT? SINCE ATIKU LEFT BPE, THE SUBSEQUENT CHAIRMAN/WOMEN HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO "SUCCESSFULLY" SELL EVEN JUST A COMPANY. what is happening with NITEL sale? what is happening with NATSAT 1, 2, 2b what has happened to ajakuta ? refineries 4?? what has happened to transcorp? - was put under BPE. dont forget ATIKU was offered 200 million shares at 1/100th of the IPO as was OBJ but he morally decline, reject and dejected it. our ogba man gladly accepted it. He was on the verge of selling licences for broadband services (internet), when he fell out with OBJ what is atiku's crime? 1. THAT HE BOUGHT INTELS. intels, he was the highest bidder. yes! might nt b so so ethical as he was the chairman of the selling body-BPE , and hence might have been privileged to know what the highest bid was when he made his own bid. At the end of the day he made the highest bid. and he won and also made the full complete payment. 2. That a company via congressman jeff tried bribing him to hasten their licensing application. (nobody can say if atiku wud have accepted, despite the FBI suspecting a soliciting being done). what we know is that the money didnt get to Atiku. he was acquitted. (the money was found in congress man jeffs fridge). if i may add- bribery is different from embezzlement of public cash!. sharing $1b on 31st night on the day the country's budget year ends is the REAL DEAL, yet pple are nt demanding impeachment. |

Atiku worked hard as head of economic team to assemble a team that got us debt relief. He used his contacts to lay a solid foundation for that process. Atiku defended democracy and helped stop the emergence of OBJ's civilian dictatorship which 3rd term would have led to. Atiku has in History worked for the freedom of this country by being at the vanguard of efforts to get the military to relinquish power and sometimes putting his own freedom at risk. Atiku is also a successful Businessman running chains of successful businesses and employing a mass of our people. NIGERIA SAI ATIKU |

A day after associates of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku went to court in a bid to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting in the 2011 elections, his own candidacy has also become a subject of judicial battle. Two-time gubernatorial aspirants in Adamawa and Taraba States, Mr. Bala Takaya and Senator Abdullahi Kirim, respectively yesterday asked an Abuja High Court sitting in Maitama to issue an order stopping Atiku from contesting in the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They are inviting the court to move in their favour on the grounds that Atiku is disqualified by both the PDP’s constitution and the 1999 constitution to seek election into any elective office in the country on account of his alleged antecedents touching on corruption. By the fresh timetable released by the secretariat of the ruling PDP last week, the presidential primary is scheduled for January 13, next year. The two plaintiffs who want Atiku barred from presenting himself for the political party’s primary election alleged that the former vice-president was dismissed from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on account of corruption and the findings in February 2010 of the United States of America Senate Permanent Sub-Committee on Investigations/ Committee of Homeland Security and Government Affairs which investigated him on allegations of money laundering and other corrupt practices of some foreign officials in the US which indicted him. They argued that his dismissal and the recent indictment by the US were enough grounds to disqualify him since both the nation’s constitution and the PDP constitution forbid anybody with such dirty record from contesting election into elective offices. Besides, the two aggrieved politicians are also seeking a separate court order compelling PDP to probe and verify the various allegations of dishonest practices including alleged receipt of $2 million bribe from Siemens AG through his wife. They asked the court to come down heavily on him if found guilty of the allegations.Takaya and Kirim invoked the original jurisdiction of the Abuja court via a writ of summons. Although the case is yet to be assigned to any judge for hearing, the plaintiffs have, in the interim, filed a motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction restraining the PDP from screening or clearing Abubakar to contest the PDP’s presidential primary. They are also asking the court to issue another interlocutory injunction restraining Abubakar from presenting himself for screening or clearance for the presidential primary. In the suit, only the PDP and Abubakar were named as defendants.Detailing the reasons why they were involving the court to stop Abubakar from contesting the poll in a 31-point affidavit, they said his emergence as a president in the country would draw the nation backward. For instance, the plaintiffs averred that “between 1969 and 1989, Atiku Abubakar rose to become the Deputy Director of Customs and was dismissed following the findings of a panel of inquiry that recommended his dismissal. “That in February 2010, the USA Senate Permanent Sub-Committee on Investigation Committee of Homeland Security and Government Affairs carried out investigation on the money laundering and other corrupt practices of some foreign officials in the USA in line with the strict moral code and integrity within which that country operates. “That the findings of the said Senate Committee showed clearly that Atiku Abubakar was the source of the over 440m dollars brought into the USA over a period of 8 years (2000-2008) through more than 30 accounts and both questioned the nature and source of Atiku’s wealth as well as found that the allegation by the SEC that Ms Douglas received over $2 million in bribe payments from Siemen AG intended part for her husband cannot be dismissed. “That the report showed how Atiku along with his fourth wife, one Ms Jennifer Douglas Abubakar, an American citizen , engaged in acts which have thoroughly embarrassed Nigeria as a country. “That Atiku was invited by the Senate Committee for questioning but that he declined the invitation.“That since he was invited for questioning by the said US Senate Committee, he has never set his foot in the USA for fear of being arrested. "And that Atiku Abubakar’s spouse, Jennifer Douglas-Atiku has also relocated to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and has not set foot in the USA since she appeared before the US Senate Committee." Meanwhile, the Atiku Campaign Organisation told THISDAY on phone last night that the case was "ridiculous". A spokesman of the organisation said the court case "is a mockery of judiciary. We know where this is coming from and we are surprised that President Jonathan will lend himself to an abuse of court process.” Atiku has consistently denied allegations of corruption, insisting that they are politically motivated. http://www.thisdayonline.info/nview.php?id=190421 |

I will not vote for PDP but I have to acknowledge that i have some soft spur for this man called Atiku. He has got the balls, he has got the courage, he his a people person and he his a real leader that carries people along. Atiku has true associates dating back and cutting across all geo political zones. Like it has been stated above he achieved a lot as a VP and partly pulled together the economic team that achieved a lot under ÖBJ. Very few people would do what Atiku did when he had PDP under his pillow and was beckoned upon to run against OBJ in 2003 and he refused so as not to be seen as the north gave power to the south for 4 years and now wants it back. Orji Kalu till today always reminds us he warned Atiku about OBJ but Atiku did not listen. Atiku is running an issue based campaign and is the only one directly speaking to PDP delegates, he his an experienced politician and a dogged fighter. Comparing GEJ to Atiku in terms of courage, charisma , governance ability or administrative experience is like comoparing the living to the dead. GEJ is as dumb as Humty Dumty and horribly gullible. He has nothing to offer Nigerians except bombings and insecurity even in his home state of Bayelsa there has been bombings at least 3 times last year alone. Another 4 years of GEJ means Nigeria might end up like little Moghadishu, God forbid! |

Beaf: Even when OBJ fought Atiku he did not use this nonsense strategy of accusing him of being sacked. This is the 3rd time Atiku is contesting for presidency and this is the first time this sack news is comming out, please give me a break as we are not all fools. For all i remember GEJ was a custom officer as well or he worked with the customs at the airport. What was his achievement? |

Lagosboy: Can't you bloody use google? Sometimes I wonder why people talk stup!dly when the truth is staring them in the face. Fcking use google! Failing that, buy TELL editions between October and November 2007. Atiku is a forger and a THIEF. Many Nigerians don't read, they prefer rumours and foolishness and then wake up to argue foolishly; that news has been known to those with open eyes since 2005. Rubbish. |

I think Buhari is just the man to beat in this election.Going by what I have read thus far,Atiku is a great man.He is the highest employer of labour in Rivers State and he sited his magnificent University in Rivers State as well.I believe he invested a large chunk of his wealth in Nigeria. He should retire to his business and leave Buhari and GEJ to contest. |

Absolutely nothing. He has only succeeded in looting our treasury. The allegations against him are many. So why should such a criminal not be behind bars? But rather than put him behind bars, he is allowed to go about fomenting trouble with his ill-acquired wealth. Imagine him boasting that he will make Nigeria ungovernable for GEJ. We dont know who is behind these bombings. He could well be the one, because of his utterances. But God will surely bring the perpetrators to justice, not one will escape. |

sulad82i: My apologies for offending you, but no regrets for telling those who spread deliberate falsehoods where to go. Why would he argue that Atiku wasn't sacked when there is even a court case he can refer to? Why would anyone argue blindly about what they don't know while insulting others? |

Sharing bags of rice to Nigerians Foreign reserves increasing in the opposite direction. being a spokesman for MEND. he was the one to tell us MEND did not bomb Abuja. dayokanu: Very interesting bunch of achievements! Beaf:You are here again preaching about google when you've consistently shown you don't even know how to use the website effectively. Stop being childish. People have asked you simple questions about GEJ's achievements versus the list of accomplishments being attributed to Atiku. Unfortunately in your usual self you simply resorted to abuses and name callings. If you are not intelligent enough to give answers, why not just read posts from sensible contributors! |

Beaf: Atiku has come out publicly to say he was not sacked/dismissed and even quoted the reference number of his own resignation letter. What I would have expected from a reasonable person is for you to rebutt that statement with facts. But alas, you resort to the normal GEJ thingy, insults, innuendos and lies, and as always short on facts and reason. |
