Do you know...that Nigeria had 35 cases when the government embarked on lockdown

Today we are at 323 and still counting. The number of Coronavirus cases increased in Nigeria DURING the lock-down than before?

Do you know that before the lock-down, only Lagos and Abuja had cases but DURING the lock-down, cases spread to Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Kaduna, Katsina, Anambra, Delta and Akwa Ibom states?

Do you know that the international gateways are only partially locked down?

Do you know that locking down without ACTIVELY testing the whole populace, isolating and treating is pure insanity?

Do you know that the current policy does not search for possible cases but officials wait in their offices for cases to be reported to them after which they show up while those cases had fully infected those that had been locked down with them?

Do you know that with the current policy devoid of any intellectual input, Nigeria might have to be locked down indefinitely while the cases would actually increase?

You cannot lock-down, destroy the economy while not deliberately testing, isolating and treating cases! The current lock-down policy, copied and pasted from the Western world without taking cognizance of the peculiar structural situation in Nigeria is the height of stupidity?

And no, the lock-down is NOT working in Nigeria; you could take that to the bank! The lock-down policy of the federal and state governments of Nigeria have actually failed simply because they didn't approach technocrats to help formulate policy...they simply copied from other countries...and copied the wrong thing.

America and UK are approaching their pick now but that's because despite the lockdown they are testing vigorously to understand what they are dealing with.

Now you know!

Review the damn policy; Copying and pasting policy with no structural framework wont work. Crime is increasing in Lagos because of poverty. Its only a matter of time it will spread all states. The poor will come after the rich

Why lockdown can not work is just simple because hunger kills faster than covid-19

Coro coro virus might give you 14 days or more
Hunger will not even give you 5days if na lie try am no eat for 4days straight
And in Nigeria no food for the masses to stay lockdown simple

At this point in our COVID-19 response, we should no longer have cases from returnees and we should be through most of their contacts. So Ideally, the case load should be expected to drop off. The fact that we are seeing cases now is already evidence of community spread. That means we are more at risk now than at any other time in our response. And that means avoiding physical contact is more important today than it was last week or 3 weeks ago.
Please stay at home and stay safe.
Happy Easter.

Lock down in a country like ours is a recipe for anarchy. Big gap between the government and the governed.
