Is God Causing This Global Lockdown? by sagenaija: 9:49am On Apr 14, 2020 |
Is God Causing this Global Lock-down? Whatever happens in the world is EITHER allowed by God or directly caused by him. That is his SOVEREIGNTY at work. God uses calamity for both blessing (Job 37:13b; James 1:2-4) and or for judgement (Job 37:13a). God uses all things, including man’s mistakes to accomplish his purpose. (See Psalm 76:10). The world is now experiencing either God’s blessing or judgement. The believer must ask the question: “Which is it – blessing or judgement?” This is critical because if God is giving us a warning, we need to recognise it as such to be able to heed it. The whole world is under a lockdown, but by whom? God uses human government to accomplish his purpose: “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases” (Prov. 21:1). In Isaiah 45:6-7 God says “I am the Lord … causing well-being, creating calamities (such as coronavirus), I am the Lord who does all these” So, why is God bringing his creatures to an almost total quarantine? The answer: Christians have forgotten God and the world’s disregard for their maker has reached an all-time high. Believers are the channel of blessing or cursing to a nation and by extension the world at large. “When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices … by the blessing of the upright a city is exalted” (Prov. 11:10-11). The opposite is also true: when believers are under divine discipline, a nation suffers. There has been no time in recent history where churches, in free nations, have been ordered closed. But that is happening today. How many believers see this as serious? Both Isa. 1:10-14 and Malachi 1:10-11 address God’s rejection of FUTILE WORSHIP. In Isa. 1:13 he said, “Stop bringing your meaningless offerings!” and in Malachi 1:10 he said “Oh that there were one among you who would shut the gates, that you might not uselessly kindle fire on my altar! I am not pleased with you” says the Lord of hosts, “nor will I accept an offering from you”. Today, the God of whom is said in Psalm 119:91 “… for all things serve you” has sent another messenger to give his warning – coronavirus. Many churches across the globe have made God’s place of worship into entertainment centers. Some are merely “a den of robbers” selling merchandise and experience to the faithful, places of exploitation and places where anything goes. Imagine a pastor sucking women’s breasts inside God’s church, telling them that he’s sucking out demons. Sickening is the right word; abomination fits best. Another pastor collects a thousand shillings from his church members, so that he can verify their names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Practices like these – gross misrepresentation of what the church should stand for – are found in all nations of the world. What goes on in many churches is dishonouring. As a result, God is not happy with the church. Before you look around to see who might be doing those dishonouring things, take a look at yourself and your local church – 2 Cor. 13:5 – “Examine yourself … “ God has closed every gathering place so that we can have time to REFLECT. He has shut down entertainment centers, amusement parks and malls, with only one place left – our homes. Let’s not deceive ourselves and others: “This is the finger of God” BUT what is more frightening is that the church seems to have no grasp of God’s anger toward the world, because many pastors focussed on power, money and fame, are preaching a sugar-coated message instead of alerting their members. They are busy DECLARING and PRONOUNCING peace and protection in the face of God’s judgement of his people. Their deceit and appeasement remind us of false prophets in Jeremiah’s day who downplayed God’s JUSTICE, saying “Peace, peace, when there is no peace at all” (Jer. 6:14). The goal continues to be to draw large following and take big collections, not to give warnings that might be unpleasant. Pastors need to rethink their messages in the face of God’s anger. No one would dare sweet talk a person caught in burning house. Preaching should be warning in light of our understanding of God’s justice “for God is a consuming fire” (Heb. 12:29). Perceiving danger and crying out to those in harm’s way is the epitome of grace and love. This is the time to draw nearer to God. Healing and restoration starts with God’s people – “If I … send pestilence (a plague such as coronavirus) among my people, and my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2Chr. 7:13-14). May God intensify his wall of fire around you, keep you safe from “the pestilence that stalks in darkness” (Ps.91:6) and be with you in these trying time. SATAN is The Chief Quality Control Engineer of God and so has general Authorities and Responsibilities to do anything. However, whenever God tells It to stop, It must stop. This is what BUHARI means when he said, "Repair starts when Mischief stops". |
