MAPOLY Students Supports Siting Agricultural Scheme In MAPOLY, Warns Detractors by femimvp(m): 1:14pm On Apr 14, 2020
OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY,
MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC,
ABEOKUTA.
April 14th, 2020.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION.
It is no longer news that Moshood Abiola Polytechnic enjoys a vantage postion in the educational sector revampment policy embedded in the "Building Our Future Together" agenda of His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dápọ́ Abíọ́dún led Ògùn state government.
This is substantiated by the reinstatement of MAPOLY to status quo, payment of staff arrears, ongoing renovation of MAPOLY road, among others.

In view of this, it is only logical that all MAPOLY stakeholders support the present administration so as to further facilitate progress to the Citadel of learning's Technology for development vision.

The Student Representative Assembly as the highest decision making student body on campus under the charismatic 'Speakership' of Rt. Hon. Fẹ́mi MVP Owóẹ̀yẹ thereby receives with concern the misguided press statement from National Association of Agricultural Students berating the siting of the Cassava Anchor Borrowers Initiative in MAPOLY.
It is interesting to know that the press statement is not from NAAS Chapter in Ogun State but by a National body that lacks knowledge of the state's economic and industrial landscape thereby making unfounded allusions. It is even of more interest that the activities of NAAS has been largely unknown until they talked about MAPOLY.
Several allegations were made against the Ministry of Agriculture, the Commissioner for Agriculture, MAPOLY and indeed the state government. We shall not dignify such fallacious claims by mentioning them here.
However, it is pertinent to note that NAAS National refused to adequately consult all concerned stakeholders before their ill-advised interview.
In addition, they failed to take into cognizance that the aforementioned scheme is such that students can benefit from but it is not only meant for students as other segments of the society can also take advantage of the project. Therefore, the idea that such programme should be located in Agricultural institutions lack merit.
In addition, the presence of Agricultural Students does not guarantee the success of the project of this magnitude.
Moreover, there is nothing in the announcement made by the Ministry of Agriculture that MAPOLY will be the only farm for Cassava Anchor Borrowers Initiative.
What NAAS should have pushed for is the extension of this initiative to Agric higher institutions instead of condemning the usage of MAPOLY farmland for the scheme.

Finally, we will like to reiterate our unflinching support for the siting of Cassava Anchor Borrowers Initiative in MAPOLY, the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and the Commissioner for Agriculture; Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina.
In the same vein, we emphatically dissuade individuals, groups, clubs or organisations from making statements that could pitch higher institutions in Ogun state against each other and to also refrain from mudslinging and name calling as these will be met with stiff resistance.
We shall not hesitate to descend the full forces of Aluta on any body found culpable.
We wish everybody safety and well-being in this COVID-19 season.

God bless MAPOLY.
God bless Ogun State.
God bless Nigeria.
Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta.

E-Signed

Rt. Hon. Fẹ́mi MVP Owóẹ̀yẹ.
