As the sun bid the sky farewell, Beckoning on me to head home. I walk the lonely roads to my empty house, Like a man carrying the world on his shoulder. I retire to my bed, too afraid to plant my head on a pillow; For nightmares stand beside my bed Waiting to embrace me when my eyes close in sleep. And a noiseless hand waits to unwind the lengthy scroll Of my failures before my wakeful eyes. in the idle darkness comes the bite Of all the burning serpents of remorse; Forcing me to curse the day I cried my way to the hands of mother Earth. My mind is a war zone - where I fight to save my wounded dreams. From the harsh soldiers of reality. My body is a brochure of scars; Where Pains walk on , with a shoulder raised high Like a breast of a young girl. ohuche Joseph 2 Likes |
