Goldman Sachs recently warned its corporate clients on the intentions of the corporate raiders and PE firms seeking lucrative buyout opportunities amid the virus scare. Stock prices of public companies are tumbling in the wake of the pandemic, and it’s being considered a great timing by the sharks of the private equity industry to make big money by buying the stocks at their minimal prices at the moment. Activist investors too, are targeting public companies to buy into at this point in time.

The epidemic has already affected a host of industries with maximum damages been done to the food, hospitality, and energy sectors. For big investors in the PE domain, it’s being seen as a golden opportunity to make profits.

The scenario for private equity jobs has worsened with the rate at which the pandemic is shooting up in the US. We are witnessing job-cuts among private equity professionals being carried out by numerous financial services firms.
