Why did you lockdown your people to suffer? Fayemi admistration is worse.Has been using state resources to pursue presidential ambition. No infrastructural development ,nothing. People like this can't make democracy work.
Fayemi is a tyrant, wicked ,selfish ,egoistic proud man. We are suffering in Ekiti.police are arresting people and collecting 10k for bail.No means of survival. Even people in Oyo State and Ondo State are living fine cos their governors are reasonable.
Fayemi, God will make your generation suffer. You will be disgraced out of office and will never know Peace IJN.

As the COVID-19 pandemic takes toll on the nation’s economy, the Nigerian Governors Forum has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari for interventions. The governors said their states were going through tough times, appealing to the president to take certain decisive decisions to ameliorate the sufferings of the citizenry. The chairman of the forum and governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, made the appeal on Tuesday during his first teleconference meeting with Buhari. Fayemi, according to a statement by the spokesman of the NGF, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, appealed to Buhari to grant the states debt relief in lieu of the drop in the federal allocation occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I know your penchant for caring for the poor and the downtrodden in the country, Mr President, and I am telling you that allocations from FAAC have dropped significantly so if you turn your magnanimity towards governors and their States into looking at other debts that continue to linger in the system and prioritise their payments, poor people will be the happier,” he said. He assured that if the federal government’s debts to the states were defrayed, the poor and vulnerable in the country would be better taken care of. He thanked Buhari for the approval of the release of $150mto augment the projected FAAC shortfall in June, but added that more needed to be done to keep the states properly afloat.

Fayemi alluded to the revenues from the Liquefied Natural Gas which, he said, could help in assuaging some issues related to revenue shortfalls. He reiterated the NGF’s call for the suspension of all deductions by the federal government so that states could address the COVID-19 challenge from a position of economic strength. He also stressed the need to streamline all multi-lateral and bilateral interventions and funding so that states could also be integrated and considered because of the difficulties they were going through. He said all the 36 states’ governments were currently reviewing their budgets downwards to conform to the prevailing realities.

He urged the president to encourage evolution of a national strategic plan that would encompass the sub-national level so that the country would find a fast and easy way out of the woods. He acknowledged that the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 was doing a great job because the challenges that the coronavirus had thrown at them was huge, adding on a lighter mood that “Hunger-vid is equally as lethal”. According to him, because the situation puts governors at the receiving end of the hardships, all governors would be happier if their requests are met.

Fayemi also told Buhari that if the distribution of palliatives was not reviewed, Nigerians, especially those in the informal sector, would take to the street in violation of the stay-at-home order. He expressed concern that informal sector workers had neither been captured in the World Bank-assisted scheme, the National Social Register and nor included in the conditional cash transfer. He said those people’s plight needed to be quickly addressed “before our situation crumbles into the “Ecuadorian Alternative“ where the poor and vulnerable people of Ecuador flocked into the streets in violation of the stay-at-home order in their country.”

He said palliatives would be more meaningful if they were distributed through the state governors. Fayemi also told the president that though the targeted testing strategy adopted by the country has done a lot, there was need for more testing. Responding, Buhari asked Fayemi to formalise all the requests of the governors and forward them to him so that he would promptly address them.

STATE GOVERNMENT ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUNDS DEDICATED FOR SAVING SOME PART OF THE MONEY GENERATED FROM INTERNALLY GENERATED REVENUE, FEDERAL ALLOCATION, DONATIONS etc

It is a crazy attitude for political leaders especially President at the federal centre and governors across the 36 states of Nigeria to be spending blindly to the extent that they leave empty treasury and then the next administration that comes having met empty treasury goes cap in hand begging the federal government.

State government in Nigeria must develop a good saving culture.

A high crude oil prices during any political office holder tenure should not tempt the governors to engage in reckless abandoned spending public funds carelessly.

The governor should learn to save money during high crude oil sale.

Other crude oil producing countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Russia etc save money both at home and in other overseas countries.

But Nigeria case is different.

It was during the time of Obasanjo as civilian president and to some extent President Jonathan Nigeria started establishing saving institutions.

Nigeria should acknowledged and give credit to Professor Ngozi Okonji Iweala then finance minister for her role in managing this aspects.

Some crazy governors like Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan was pressing that the federal government share the excess crude oil money to state.

Where is ex-governor Uduaghan today?

Today international donors, IMF, world bank are more sympathetic to the poor smaller countries than border themselves about Nigeria that is known for corruption and mismanagement of public funds.

That is why Nigeria was excluded from the recent list of countries the IMF gave financial grant.

Corruption among the political class is one of the major reason the dividend of democracy could not be delivered in Nigeria.

There is also the need for the three tiers of government in Nigeria ( federal, State, local ) to cut down on the huge cost of governance in Nigeria.

What is the federal government doing with billions of naira that is concentrated at the federal centre.

More powers should be devolved to the state where there is a large number of people at the grassroot that needs this funds.

Why is the national assembly ( senate ) asking for money to renovate the senate building in this time of economic stagnation?

Why is brand new cars the major preoccupation of house of representatives members?

They even went overboard to kick against the federal government buying car from Innoson Nigeria 's indigenous car manufacturing company.

Why is car for Bayelsa state government officials the number one priority of governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state on his assumption of office having got the position by the nullification of the election of David Lyon the initial winner whose deputy or running mate had name discrepancies in the document he submitted to INEC to contest the election.

As I said some days ago, Fayemi had extended lockdown in Ekiti to April 27 before Buhari 7pm broadcast on Monday. Most States don't really need lockdown to track corona virus, they are only using the opportunity to reduce operating cost (recurrent expenditure) of governance as Tax will be very difficult to collect. Those states are just hiding under Corona to avoid expenditure. They are aware of fall in crude oil price and the lockdown in Lagos and some other countries. Naturally, they know there is recession. Most of the States borrow to pay salary and later pay back whenever they receive Federal allocation. They are already back to 2016/2017 situation .
