It is really terrible and pitiable how many Nigerian celebrities live in wealth and affluence while their own family die in squalor, hunger and abject poverty.
I consider it quite pathetic that a person will rise to fame and glory and then forget the family in which he/ she grew up. There is an adage that says:

The fowl does not forget the person that dried the feather in the rainy season.

So it is improper for a person to let go of the family when successful. Because even if everything goes on fine, one day, you may surely need them. Fans might leave you but family can never let go completely.

Many celebrities show off multi million mansions, fleets of cars and have net worth of many thousand dollars yet their families are dying of hunger.

MERCY AIGBE AS A CASE STUDY



I don’t want to be judgemental, but I must express my displeasure with the actions of my diva queen, Mercy Aigbe. Mercy announced on her Instagram that she bought her house for 25 million in Ojota area. She has fleets of cars and lives in splendor and affluence. In fact, she is the richest Yoruba actress so far with an estimated net worth of $ 600, 000. She does give aways to fans constantly. But can one actually derive happiness from wealth not shared with family, your first home?

The joy of this kind of wealth is superficial just like the joy gotten from blood money. Firstly, my dissatisfaction goes with the fact that Mercy’s family life is totally out of the internet. No body knows her mother, father or any of her siblings. That facet of her life is very private and out of the eyes of the public. She only displays her children and her husband while they were still together. It was rumoured that Mercy locked out her family from her life because they abandoned her when she got pregnant outside marriage. But whatever could be her reason, I think this punishment is too much for a family by blood. Blood is stronger than water and to err is human but forgiveness is divine. Nollywood Fake Lives

Rumours started spreading since last week about the death of Mercy’s sister, Lizzy , both of same parents. A source close to the family disclosed some days ago that Mercy had long abandoned her family and cared for no one. She said that Lizzy just died of a heart ailment accompanied by hunger and abandonment. She said Mercy never visited or cared for her throughout her illness. With all her wealth, couldn’t she have just flown the woman abroad for proper treatment?

The anonymous lady also stated that when Mercy’s father died, that his burial ceremony took place in a hut where he lived without any of her fellow celebrities in attendance of the burial. She attended secretly and told no one about it. Is it not an irony for Mercy to live in a mansion worth millions while her biological father died in a hut? hmmmm! whatever they did to Mercy must have been unbearable to her.

She also said that Mercy’s mum currently fries Akara somewhere. The mother of a famous celebrity in the streets frying Akara? It’s horrible!

This lady confirmed that Mercy won’t post about Lizzy’s death because she wouldn’t want to be associated with her and wouldn’t want the public to hear about her.

But Mercy yesterday and today, swallowed her pride and posted pictures of Lizzy, mourning her in public. She made this post after a whole week break from social media possibly to mourn the death of her sister. The lady said she is now in custody of Lizzy’s children. I think with these developments, Mercy truly still cares about her family irrespective of their sin or offence. She shows she still has a heart of gold as she wished her sister to ” be with the angels in heaven“. This means that her anger wasn’t so deep after all.

I wish Mercy will have a change of heart, forgive her entire family and live happily with them once more. Family is the last resort of every human, they don’t deserve to be abandoned. Like we know, you will never know the value of what you have until you loose it. Now that Mercy has lost her sister, I know she might be regretting why she didn’t lend a hand when she could. Who am I to judge her? But I just really wish to see her truly happy because she deserves it.

This should serve as a lesson to other celebrities who live in plenty yet their family have nothing to eat. This is the time to lend a helping hand to those that depend on us because no nobody knows tomorrow. And also a lesson to those in life long animosity with their family. We too have lessons to learn from this: No matter how angry you are, never abandon your family. Let them enjoy with you and become part of your success story. Because you will never know the value of what you have, until you lose it.

I pray this incidence reunite the whole family again.
