Funny story.
After successfully scheduling appointment for March 24th, i got an email after about 4 hours that my appointment has been cancelled.

A review of my profile still shows either cancel appointment or reschedule appointment.

If i go to the embassy like that, will i still be able to attend the interview?

Please, I need help for a cousin. Her appointment was scheduled for April since mid January only to receive a text message that the appointment has been rescheduled, that she should check her email. Checked email, nothing; Checked board, instead of April date, it's now 'appointment has not been scheduled'. What to do next please?

I landed Boston logan airport some hours ago.

Me: Hey Good afternoon, how’s it going?
CBP: I’m doing good, where are you coming from?
Me: Lagos Nigeria
CBP: purpose of visit
Me: Business and Visiting my Elder Brother
CBP: How long are you staying for
Me: 3 weeks

She asked me to remove my face mask and captured me
Cbp: Apart from the last time you visited the US, have you been to the US before?

Me: No.
Cbp stamps my passport for 6months.

I went to baggage claim and was referred to Agriculture specialists. men those guys drilled me

CBP: Do you have any fruits or meat?
Me: Nope (I didn’t know my Mum packaged garden egg and Yam for my Elder Brother), the cbp checked and saw garden egg, yam and ungrounded Egusi.
He told a white CBP lady to depose all the Egusi and the reason was because I didn’t grind it.
He asked me where I did covid test , I said in a private Laboratory in Benin City Nigeria, then he said some Nigerians pay 50k and get fake covid Report from the airport, as I was about replying he said I shouldn’t bother to argue about it so he doesn’t take it further and his friend who is a Nigerian told him.
The CBP guy said he would have fined me $300 for bringing those stuffs but this is gonna be like a warning and next time I will be fined.
He scanned my passport and told me to go.

You also need to know the type of foodstuff allowed into the country you are heading to. Just pray your name hasn't been flagged.

Hello,

I am in the same boat as you, however, i recieved email for cancelled appointment. Yet, when i checked my board i still see that my appointment is active for March.

The options available is "cancel appointment", "reschedule appointment", "emergency appointment".

I am thinking i will just still go to the embassy on that day. Have anyone had this experience?

Am tired of all this.

I think we should allow the US Embassy to sort the issues it has with appointments and chill back to the sidelines.

There has been no formal announcement that regular consular appointment has resumed, as they are still stuck in the COVID-Work-From-Home / Suspended Non-Essential Consular services.

The appointment dates being jostled for are those the system is trying to use for expedient/emergency appointments. It's limited, and if you didn't select emergency appointment, you will be lose it. My opinion.

Concerning those who had the previous appointment circa Q1 2020, the embassy has said your MRV fee validity will be extended for 12 months (not sure on the length), and if for any reason, they do not resume full service and the 12 months is exceeded, they will extend again, or you send a mail to them for an extension due to no fault of yours.

Until vaccination and COVID restrictions are lifted, this will continue.

This doesn't mean anybody shouldn't keep trying to get appointment but note this is not going away soon. It will be difficult.

Let me drop this here.
A friend was at the embassy today for B1B2. Note that this is a rescheduled appointment from 2020 cancelled due to Covid. She also gave birth in the states some 4/5years ago and has fair travel history. Family of 5 but visa request was for 4 as per one US baby.

Not many questions asked:
- What the hubby does and how many staff he has as per self employed
- What wifey does
- Purpose of travel
- Where in US they plan to visit.

Finish...Visa approved.

Please I have an issue. Paid the US visa fees in Jan, after filling the form, kept looking for dates, I couldn't get, till last week when I got an appointment for August. My passport expires in Jan 2022 and you know the US embassy says your passport must be valid for at least 6months. Should i renew my passport before my interview? and how can I change the receipt to carry the new passport no? please advise. thanks
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Tee1583: 2:59pm On Feb 24, 2021
Renew your passport before your interview and go with both passports. New Passports always carry previous passport no so it doesn't matter they will see the previous passport no in your passport. I have same issue with my son and when I called them this is what I was told.

All the best!

I said something like this before and it looked like I was a kill joy. The US is being ravaged by a pandemic, I'd suggested everyone took a chill pill and wait it out. It doesn't make sense travelling now for a visit or vacation, if it is not classified as an emergency trip.

When in doubt, send them an email. Good luck guys

True and not so true... when you go to CGI site even though NVC had auto scheduled for you, you can actually change the date to the one available on CGI site.
