Some of the freed detainees were those suffering from ill health and other terminal diseases, inmates that are 60 years and above, convicts serving three years and above but have less than 6months to serve, mentally unstable inmates and inmates with the option of fine not exceeding N50,000.

The Minister of Justic, Mr. Abubakar Malami; Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola were present at Kuje Correctional Facility during the visit by FCT Chief Judge to free the detainees.

The conditions on which they were released is based on a reasonable argument.
