...says it's a wake up call to Edo youths

The appointment of a 38-year old Ethan Uzamere as the Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been described as a morale booster and wake-up call for the youths of Edo state.

The Chairman of Governors Mandate Network, Earl Osaro Onaiwu made the statement while speaking with our correspondent on Sunday. He said with the appointment of the former investment banker, it was certain that Governor Obaseki is not paying lip service to his plan to reorientate Edo youths away from thuggery into value-adding endeavours.

Mr. Onaiwu said it was now clear to the people that if youth shun being used as political thugs and prove themselves in their chosen field of endeavour, they will eventually be found worthy of noble assignment as in the case of Mr. Uzamere.

"I think we must commend the governor for finding the youngman worthy of the role. I have no doubt that he will perform, he will be a good role model for our youths and provide them an inspiration to aspire to the peak of their career.

Moreso, he is coming from a solid and sound background and he has also gathered good experience as an Executive Assistant to the governor before now," Mr. Onaiwu said.

The Governors Mandate Network chairman stated that he was particularly elated by the development having enjoyed such confidence from his principal in the past. Recall that as a 23-year old, the young Osaro Onaiwu was appointed as a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sam Ogbemudia of the old Bendel state.

Meanwhile, the Governors Mandate Network has cautioned some Edo politicians who are heating up the polity in preparation for the gubernatorial elections to desist from such selfish acts. The group noted that the priority all over the world right now is how to defeat the rampaging COVID-19 for which Edo state currently has active cases.

The Network enjoined politicians and leaders of thought in the state to join efforts with the governor to send the scourge out of Edo State. It noted that unless that is done, the leaders may not enjoy the support of the masses in their quest to lead them.
