Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday said Kogi state has not recorded a single case of COVID-19 pandemic because nobody has been tested in the state.


He also said he is unaware of any app which can be used to determine cases of COVID-19 as the state governor, Yahaya Bello has said.


The governor in a recent interview had said the state has developed an application that residents can use to ascertain whether persons with symptoms of coronavirus should report for testing.

Ologbondiyan said the governor should as a matter of urgency get the approved test kits so that people can be tested before an outbreak of the disease.


“We don’t have a case in Kogi because people have not been tested. Until we have test kits in Kogi and people are being tested, nobody can say that the state has not recorded a single case. What Governor Yahaya Bello should work on is to get the test kits so that people can be tested in the state”.


“I don’t know anything about the app. I am not a scientist but I know that all over the world, there is nowhere we have heard that there is an app that anybody can use to discover if he or she is COVID-19 positive or not. What I’m aware of is the test kit”.


“But as a matter of fact, I heard the governor said there are three isolation centres in Kogi state. I doubt if there is any isolation centre in the state”.
“I also doubt if Kogi is prepared for the emergence of any positive case. I just hope and pray for everybody in Kogi state that we do not have a deluge of the COVID-19 pandemic” he said.
