Its a disease that affects all age of rabbit but weaners are more *vulnerable* to this disease. The disease causing agent is protozoa..
Rabbit become infected with coccidiosis by these species Eimeria spp from protozoa by ingesting oocytes of the organism which is usually from other faeces or fecal contamination. Whether rabbit will become ill depend on many factor. Amount of the organism ingested, the specie of organism ingested, age, and individual susceptibility of each rabbit

From my observations i observed that some rabbits may be carriers of this parasite, and even transfer its to it kitts which usually cause liver coccidiosis..
Just like the way we have various diseases causing organisms. From bacteria, viruses, fungi.. Protozoa is also disease causing organisms...
Eimeria species fall under protozoa this are organism that do infect rabbits, especially young and recently weaned rabbits. Which bring about the coccidiosis...

From my observation its important to be very observant with your rabbit as rabbit are symptoms and pain hider.. *The earlier you observe the symptoms the earlier the recovery.....*

Dehydration

The joy of all rabbit breeder is to have low mortality of weaners.. But due to high mortality cause by coccidiosis it shorten the joy from 3 weeks upward when the milk letdown of the doe is reducing.. As the milk letdown reduce the immune system of weaners become reduced and becomes vulnerable to this deadly disease called coccidiosis. It's ideal for the rabbit farmer to prevent the occurrence of this disease.
*Preventive measure*
�Good hygiene is proven very preventive...
�Cage.. Housing.. The floor of the cage should be net base. Which allow easy dropping of faeces which will not make it possible for rabbit to eat the faeces that can later cause coccidiosis
� Treatment of breeding doe before mating as it's confirmed that pregnant doe can transfer this disease to it kits.
� Adding tridax and bitter leaves to the rabbit weekly ration twice in a week is very effective in preventing coccidiosis
� Avoid overcrowding of the kits and stress.
�Good nutrition is also a key factor
�Good feeder.. That allow easy cleaning without remnant that can serve as building room for the oocytes

*If am unable to prevent this deadly disease called coccidiosis which is always the best how do i cure it*.

�Tridax and bitter leaves as proven to effective in curing coccidiosis at early stage.. It should be part of daily ration of the affected rabbit
The following drugs are recommended.
1. Embaziforte
2. Maxicoc
3. Embacocc
4. Amprolium.
And many more...
The usage is usually inscribe on each each brand. Which is usually 1g to 1ltr of water 1:1 for 5 days for curing
And 3days for preventive measure
Note : its bad management to give drug or vaccination to rabbit without giving multivitamin or anti stress..

*Liver coccidiosis* the last time i experience this.. I use almost all the above drug but wasn't effective until i was advised to use tylodox for 5 days.. Which i confirmed that tylodox wsp is effective for liver coccidiosis

Its good practices to give any of the above drug with multivitamin.. ����
