TUESDAY, 28 APRIL 2020 - 4996 cases (203 new) - 93 deaths (3 new) - 185, 497 tests (6 million screened) - 2073 recoveries CAPE TOWN NEW HOT SPOT The Western Cape's total number of cases has increased to a total of 1 778 cases, with the Cape Town metro accounting for 80% of those. The city has the highest number of cases in the province at 1 508, which is higher than the province with second largest number of cases - Gauteng (encompassing Johannesburg) at 1 353. The Western Cape has the highest number of both infections and deaths to date. We are increasing the number of cases... we are chasing up results, we've got big groups of positive cases that have come from clusters, mainly originating in a few supermarkets, factories and workplaces - Dr Keith Cloete, Head of Department - Western Cape Health .
