A MIXED FEELING FOR TEACHERS. WORKERS DAY IN NIGERIA 2020.
TEACHER Comrade Sunday Fowowe Simeon

@ Vonnews.

The president of Association National Nursery and primary Education Instructors in Nigeria (ANPEIN) Simeon Sunday Fowowe in his chat with Voice out Nigeria News after his press release expressed his mixed feeling today been labour Day or International workers day as he celebrates all workers.

Fowowe Simeon said even though Covid 19 public holiday is been observed in many countries including Nigeria, workers except those on essential services will be given a day off to celebrate themselves.

He has in total showed different mixed feelings today May 1st 2020 as its being celebrated, especially the teachers who are already on a compulsory holiday due to the stay at home order declared by the federal government.

The National president (ANPEIN) gave a brief history of May Day in Nigeria, saying it was introduced by people Redemption party (PRP) Government of Kano state in 1980 and it became a National Holiday on May 1st 1981, since then workers in Nigeria has not missed its celebration.

Teacher Fowowe in extension of his brief analysis concluded that this year is dedicated to the workers and teachers in all forms, for their unalloyed services being rendered to the different categories of learners. Teachers have continued to teach pupils from homes using the various techniques and technologies available as workers day is a tribute to teachers and workers.

The ANPEIN president also stated that on a day like this, civil society usually gather in a place to mark this day with a lot of activities. He made it clear that he is dedicating this years speech to the teaching industry and that teaching and learning has changed as occasioned by the pandemic Virus of Covid19 which has ravaged the world.

He also noted that teachers as a matter of urgency and compulsion should essentially reprofile themselves by building a new improved career by all modern and contemporary standards.

Teacher Fowowe Simeon Sunday encouraged all the teachers and parents to make themselves available to be tested and be covid19 free. As facemask has been introduced by Lagos state government effective from Monday which brought about the question, How do we handle children that sneeze in the class? Are we going to ask children to wear mask? Although the school system after this timeout will be operated on mixed mode(E_Learning and physical learning).

Schools that will thrive after this timeout will be those that have learnt the techniques and expertise needed to operate Androids phones and computer to teach. School owners should as a matter of urgency train their teachers caregivers and school heads on these technological manipulations.
