I’m sorry but this is not the same thing. I am a team leader at work and people treat each other with respect, even when they don’t like you. You cannot call your colleague Hitler or use vile words against someone at work. I am not the president of a country, to say I can ignore the jabs thrown at me and continue my leadership. I am actually here. I can see the insults and I am a human being.

I know you guys are enjoying this thread and you want me to keep writing, but it is improper to keep telling me to harden up and “ignore the haters”, while I keep writing for you. I have emphasized the importance of mental health on this thread. I have ignored many things and I was going to keep ignoring but now, things have gone too far.
Hate will always be there, but I have a choice on whether or not to tolerate it. This time I am choosing happiness.

I keep seeing this you are Nigerian and you should take every shit thrown at you, the mentality of some people here is exactly what is wrong and why we can't move forward as a people, in as much as I've been a silent follower and I love this trend, it's best Daniel leaves cause the truth is the trolls/haters won't stop..... No be today.

Danielhouston:
This is a hard one but I think I’ll be staying away from this forum. The toxicity and hate is incomprehensible. I cannot believe that someone referred to me as Hitler. He posted a picture of Hitler with the Nazi salute and referred to me as Hitler. I can swallow an insult and I don’t care for anything else people say about me, but Hitler?
Even my friends read it and were so disgusted.

The fact that people liked that comment, makes it even more troubling. You guys have gone too far with the hate. What did I do to deserve so much hate? I only came here to share my experience of life in Germany and I always acknowledged everyone that contributed to the thread. I am not gaining anything from this. I have a peaceful life and I don’t have to deal with this.

If people understand what it means to refer to a living person as Hitler. As a black man who lives in Germany and still suffers the impact of Hitler’s legacy, this is beyond disgusting. It is a serious crime and one of the most gruesome things you can reduce someone to. Read up on Hitler’s legacy and imagine how someone would show up here and refer to me as Hitler with a Nazi salute?

I was away on vacation and came back with joy, only to log into this forum again and experience such hate. I cannot ignore this. I refuse to get used to the toxicity. I cannot change it but I can choose not to be part of it. I will stay away from this forum from today. I will only come here when I have pictures to post, then I post the pictures and log out until the year ends.
dude Natural i will ask you to move on but i think you where born and brought up in Nigeria like forget say you travel go Germany this is Nigeria mehn i feel you should understand here is fuvking different from there so chill and do your thing which people has been touched inspired by, but if you feel you have done enough you can move on we will still see someone come up with a light like you and share with us the light, "never let someone off your light based on hate, envy and low mentality" all reasoning are not the same here is public forum you should understand better. peace to you brother

Danielhuston, these is a nice thread... But no matter how e nice reach ehn people go still get conflicting opinions with yours.
One thing I will tell you is, move this thread over to the diary section that way you will have authority over what you post and how you update. And no one can comment at all.
Move it over to the diary section if you no fit contain anyhow opinions.

brother man.. you re too soft hearted for a Nigerian? I wonder if you grew up with the harsh economies of naija... else you wont be here been emotionally depressed on what a fvcker says on a faceless forum.

Oga, if you quit, na u loose oo.. so make I tell you..

You shouldn't be crying like a baby wey dem comot from him mama breast cos of what a fvcker has to say?
That means you cant run for a public position.. you cant even face a harsh and critical environment..

Best thing you do is if you cant take the heat, get out of the kitchen.. if you think you cant survive in this hostile environment, best bet is to chicken out bro.. deactivate and chicken out (which I don't think you should even do by the way).

We all have our lives we live outside here... nobody feeds off here unless peeps doing business here.

It's a hostile environment out here..not many here are gentlemen.. so you know

I am shocked that you are using these words to address the OP even when you've acknowledged that he's just being unnecessarily hounded by a few! Even though it's very common for many Nigerians to be uncouth and use rather crude words to express themselves, yet I get bewildered each time I come across such.

We all enjoy Danielhouston's account of his life in Germany, and we're already aware of his initial disclaimer about the fact that people may have differences in opinions to his. They are free to mention such on the thread, without creating grounds for drama and unnecessary arguments.

I personally see him as a host who is granting us all (readers) audience into his personal life's experiences, while at the same time providing sufficient information to would-be immigrants to visitor/students/immigrants to Germany. Please, let's respect him and his own unique way of narrating his experiences.

I do believe that neither you, nor many others who have unwittingly sparked controversies, actually premeditated causing disruptions in this thread. However, it seems a lot just can't help being toxic at the end of the day due to the way they express themselves. Maybe that's a direct result of growing up in the harsh and hostile Nigerian environment.

Please, let us all learn to be sensitive and consider others. Using strong and insulting words may be considered manly to some, but it is certainly not something to be proud of. Though some expression of conflicting opinions can be mildly shared, yet they don't need much stressing and extra mentions, especially if they would lead to too much arguments. One can let go, while just taking in only what info are need in such narrations.

@Danielhouston, please realise a lot of us do appreciate your work and do not subscribe to the typical Naija way of showing 'manliness' by denigrading others! You are welcome to continue your good work here. I apologize to you on behalf of the disruptors/thread derailers/people who admire you and originally meant to defend you, but ended up displaying rude behaviours.

What is your level ?

There are Study books I can find for you with exercices and audios.

But I wonder why you would want to learn German with a book only. It is possible but it takes great level of motivation and self discipline that only few people can showcase.

Tell me more, and I will see if I can be of help.

Good day, Afromentalist. Sorry for bringing you back to this. Do you think learning German with Duolingo helps? Or is YouTube a better choice?

There something I have learnt in this life. The existence of critics. This set of persons are not creative in any way. All they do best is to criticize people's work. They are enemies of progress.

There plan is for you to quit.

The earlier you take note of them the better.

His farewell is not needed, i'm very disappointed with his behavior and next time someone opens a thread in this section i will moderate it differently and by that i mean not giving the op preferential treatment .

I have never moderated a thread so strictly since i become a mod about 8yrs ago. I banned a very single person derailing this thread, i hid so many posts even when Danielhouston replied rudely.

I locked this thread when the heat is too much and reopened it when he was ready to continue, i have never done this before.

He threatened to leave if i don't ban those attacking him and i did that, after few days he came back with the same bitterness rather than continuing his thread then he deactivated his account.

So my question to many of you is..what a hell do you people want me to do for King Danielhouston?

Are you people honestly suggesting that nobody has the right to disagree with him?

More than 99% of people here support him and openly compliment his work here but still he got worked up by just one percent of people who did not share his opinion, even when i ban those people and remove their posts still its not enough.

If you are intolerant to alternative view then public forum is not for you.

I was going to beg ,on behalf of 10s of folks enjoying his experience, to change everything to diary by discussing with the relevant Mods. Now that he has succumbed temporarily to the other side, I think he should love this side , for whom his experiences were originally meant, so much that he can overlook the shenanigans of these irritants- so to speak.
The Diary Section gives him the power to unhindered freedom which this travel space cannot on nairaland.

Daniel hoston is not the first person to open a thread and got attacked until they abandoned it. It happened to Munichlover too and many others. Maybe you should accept that there is something seriously wrong with this forum that needs to be fixed.

Thank you Justwise for this. I didn't want to say anything before because I've been a silent reader but as much as I enjoyed Danielhouston's thread, I was actually very disappointed with the way he behaved.

Most people here agreed with him, even when he was wrong and behaving childish. Yet because of what one person said he decided to deactivate. I also noticed the preferential treatment given to him, but he still wasn't satisfied.

It was Danielhouston's word and no other person's. Always talking about toxicity but being toxic in a passive aggressive way. This is for the best.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the forum that needs fixing, all public forum and social medias are the same, all we can do is moderate it and not allow one person to detect the dos and don'ts.
