First Nigerian to be voted African Player of the Year in 1993 Late Rashidi Yekini, was Nigeria all time goalscorer with 37 goals from 58 appearances, and died from a brief illness at age 48 on May 4, 2012. He scored the country's 1st ever FIFA world cup goal at the 1994 finals held in United States during a 3-0 group stage win over Bulgaria. He hails from Ira in Oyun LGA in Kwara State. Rest on legend
