Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Tuesday said those stealing funds donated to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic will also reloot the Abacha loot recently returned to Nigeria.

The federal government, through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Monday said approximately $311,797,866.11 of the Abacha loot was repatriated from the US and Jersey.

Malami also said that the Federal Government had committed that the assets would support and assist in expediting the construction of three major infrastructure projects across Nigeria, including Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Abuja-Kano Road, and the Second Niger Bridge.

He added that the country was in the process of establishing a Project Monitoring Team to oversee the implementation of the projects and report regularly on progress made to the public.

However, Afenifere, through Yinka Odumakin, its National Publicity Secretary, said the recovered money will be relooted again by the current administration except there is a total reset and departure from how things are done in the past.

“The Abacha loot will be relooted again. The Federal Government cannot get it right for as long as it is hooked on the preset arrangement.”

"We need a total reset. Insanity has been redefined as doing the same thing over and expecting a different result".

“Those who are stealing COVID-19 money will not spare Abacha loot,” he said.

Why not just say Buhari's Government will reloot Abacha loot?
