Community Berates Protesters Against Buhari's FCC Nominee In Anambra by TonyRazor(m): 5:39pm On May 05, 2020 |
TonyRazor Community berates protesters against Buhari's nominee in Anambra, calls them stooges The Oba community in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State has described protesters against the nominee of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari into the Federal Character Commission, Rev Uche Ibeabuchi,as dissidents of the area. It said the allegations levelled against the nominee as baseless and born out of jealousy. It vowed to drag such people to court to serve as deterrent to others. Some members of the community had levelled allegations of highhandedness and land grabbing against the presidential nominee. While alleging that Ibeabuchi had forcefully sold the community’s lands and converted the proceeds to his personal use, they asked the senate not to confirm his nomination because he was not fit and proper person for the job. But the President-General of Oba Patriotic Union,Clifford Enendu at a press conference on Tuesday absolved the FCC nominee of all the wrong doings, saying his accusers were being sponsored by a disgruntled politician. Enendu said, "We heard that some people wrote a petition against one of our sons, Rev. Uche Ibeabuchi. I want to state it categorically that Oba as a community is behind our son, Ibeabuchi. “As I heard, they even signed on my behalf and also on behalf of my secretary general in the said petition. That is impersonation. Oba as a community is in support of his nomination and we are fully in support of him and grateful to Mr President for honouring our son. Enendu said he would drag the petitioners to court for signing the ill-willed petition on his behalf without his authorization. “I will file suit against the person that signed the petition on my behalf. It is impersonation. We have to do that as soon as possible”. Speaking, the Legal Adviser to Okuzu-Oba Development Union, Azubuike Okeke, said the petitioned was written in bad faith, stemming from jealousy hatred, and ancient grudges. He added,"A certain man in our community thought that having money means having influence; that he can dictate whatever that happens to the village without anybody asking a question”. "We will see to the root of this issue by dragging those involved to court to serve as a deterrent to others," Okeke stated. |
