The uncertainty of the future has driven Uber to make arrangement for the dismissal of 3,700 workers. The number of customers making use of their services has been dwindling amidst the pandemic. Also, the company stopped hiring workers due to the aforementioned reason. Eventhough Uber is trying to cut its losses, it can’t escape the expenses it will procure in settling the benefits of the affected staffs. More so, the company CEO, Dara Khosrowshah, will not be entitled to salary for a year, including the yearly bonus of $2million. Consequently, the stock price of the company plummeted below investor’s expectation after the announcement. Some companies are also doing that now, due to the pandemic. Some even made a plan, of paying half salaries. |
