Jeez..... 600k loss in 8 months of terrible performance of the car.

Person wey no learn lessons from this thread no go ever learn again o. grin

I would never buy any Nissan product. I bought that car "Nigerian Used". It looked clean in and out but I never knew the owner was selling it because of its numerous problems. I went with a Nissan-based Mechanic to inspect the car and he encouraged me to buy it that it was good. I never knew that the seller had promised the Mechanic 50k if he made the transaction possible. It was much later that I got to know when I started making trouble with the Mechanic guy over the incessant spendings I was making because of the car and he then confided in my cousin that the seller promised and gave him 50k for the transaction plus the 70k I gave him.

Just imagine

That’s what those devilish sellers usually do, they quickly corner your mechanic with a share of the sale.

One of my guys had similar issue with an infinity FX35 sotay if his mechanic sees me advising him to stop spending on the wack melon na wahala.

He learnt the hard way after spending almost 900k.

I had to become James Bond ooo. I was caught by some FRSC guys. They stopped my vehicle and oblivious to me, they had been watching me the whole time. They had thought I stole the vehicle. I explained to them and they were kind enough to help me in clearing the way but I had to part with 8k after they were done. That Murano was bought " Nigerian Used". That was the first and last " Nigerian Used" vehicle for me. My second experience wasn't a good one too. My second car was a Toyota Camry 2008 Model. The ride looked so clean and new and I was over the moon when I just bought it. Hmm 3 months after, I took it for servicing and lo and behold, the car, under, was all rusted and as they were even working on the vehicle, some of the components were falling of because there was nothing to hold them in. God helped me that the engine never fell of, neither did I fall of while driving it. I tried selling the car but it was always priced low. I had to use it as a collateral to collect money I didn't need from a Micro finance Bank and just left the car with them. When it was time to repay the loan, I never showed up. I told them they could sell the car. Those two experiences made me the car enthusiast I am today.

Wow, mind intriguing story.

Cheers!!

That was my experience with my Nissan Murano in 2011. I drove to the market with my cousins. I had parked the car behind another car. when the owner of the car I had parked behind wanted to leave, I engaged the gear in reverse, after the moving back for the guy to drive out, my gear wouldn't shift to 'Drive'. I did all I could but all to no avail. The idiot wouldn't even go back to ' Park'. I reversed back home with my cousins. A journey of about 20 Minutes, took my more than 3 hours because of the mad traffic back home and to make matters worse, the Air-conditioner wasn't working so I was just sweating like a criminal that had just been caught. It was that very week I vowed never to have anything to do with a Nissan or Infiniti product. That same Murano always had problems ranging from Gearbox problem to Fuel pump to timing chain. Nissan is a flop abeg.

one guy on this forum will disagree with u cos hes been using his Murano for years with the same engine and gear he bought it with

It is not worth it at all. It is better one buys a car they would enjoy. Ever since the Nissan, I buy new cars from abroad. I could spend days inspecting the car I want to buy to avoid a repeat of the past. I have noticed that most people who sell vehicles that have been used in Nigeria, aren't always sincere. They'd always tell the reason for selling is because the owner wants to upgrade or relocate or bought another car...the excuses go on and on.

Hmm sadly, we all don't have the same experiences in life, but mine has really taught me to tread carefully when buying a car.

When man was struggling in life.... Chai...

Now if I decide to buy a Nigeria used car , I price half of what the seller wanted to sell, because I know I will use nearly 150- 200 to repair it ...

Forget sugar coated mouth, there was something wrong with the vehicle for the owner to want to sell it...

Imagine pushing your car on the road, with your white native ,with heat soaking your life.

Oh thats nice.
One more question, are cars cheaper in Ibadan or Ijebu-Ode compared to Lagos (Berger)??
Do you advise i go to Berger for Toks?
If you don’t have good experience about car buying, please avoid Berger and Amuwo Odofin dealerships like a plague.
It usually end in tears.

Never buy Nigerian used cars as most people would have not used the recommended oil for gear, engine, power steering and stuff. My neighbor drove that car for year in a very bad roaded neighborhood until i parked out. zero issues. Its expensive to maintain cars. Even toyotas are expensive to maintain if u buy original parts and recommended OEM fluids. Common gear oil for my 2005 camry was 28k. How many people fit afford am?

Nissan murano and infinity are well built japanese cars. Na we no dey gree follow factory maintenance schedule and also using OEM oils cuz they are horribly expensive. Also I never buy Nigerian used car cept say na big man drive am. Even at that, i go still use scanner scan everything for the motor, ask for the type of oil in use on the engine, axles, transfer case, steering and transmission. The answers will let you know if it was a properly maintained car.

Man, some crook almost did this to me.

The same N50k promise, but was back in 2007.

Luckily, the mechanic told me.
