Transport Commissioner Pays Unscheduled Visit to Motor Parks.

Urges Compliance With COVID-19 Safety Directives

The Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, has charged all transport line operators in the State to comply with the safety/health guidelines concerning COVID-19 in the State.

Oviemuno gave the charge when he paid an unscheduled visit to Delta Line Transport Company and other transport line operators in the State capital.

At the Delta Line TransĀ¬port Company at Koka Terminal, the Commissioner had a chat with the Manager of the Station, Mr. Charles Emeka Obanor, and other staff, concerning their level of awareness and compliance. He was shown a bucket of running water with soap and sanitizer.

The Commissioner, however, charged the management to do more as he observed that some staff and passengers though put on the nose mask but not properly worn.

He encouraged the proper use of the nose mask, which should not to be placed under the chin.

He also charged them to always ensure that passengers put on their nose mask properly as well as keep strictly to the number of approved passenger and the usage of passengers manifest.

In the same vein, the Commissioner charged the management to always park their operational vehicles and those of their customers off the shoulder of the road, adding that they should keep their environment clean.

In an Interview, some passengers and staff that did not want their names in print, complained that the nose mask strings causes a lot of pain on their ears, as a result of the constant usage.

The Commissioner, who also visited Delta Appreciate Station, where the Manager, Oge Chukwu, assured him of full compliance with laid down principles.

Other motor parks visited during the three days exercise included; Agofure Park, Abraka Park, former Tollgate Park at the Onitsha Bridge head, Delta City Intra-City Station, Kwale/ Ughelli Park Ibuzo road, amongst others.

Oviemuno stated that the exercise would be a continuous one as he charged all the transport line operators not to engage in inter-state journeys and food vendors were asked to always sell in take-away packs within the parks.
