The Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC), has delivered a consignment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

This is coming after this newspaper exclusively reported how some nurses improvised with polythene bags following the admission of two patients showing Covid-19 symptoms on Monday.

The nurses resorted to the polythene bags after being denied of PPE, the recommended safety gear for the treatment of an infectious disease. The hospital management, however, denied the report, saying they wore a disposable gown instead.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the hospital, Segun Orisajo, on Friday, the management has received new PPE from NCDC.

After POLITICS NIGERIA's report, NCDC donates PPE to FMC Abeokuta

According to him, the donation of the PPE was made possible by the unrelenting efforts of the Medical Director, Adewale Musa-Olomu who had been on the neck of the NCDC for sometime.

The items received by the Centre include PPEs, face masks, gloves among others.

Receiving the items, the Medical Director appreciated the NCDC for its quick response to the hospital’s request assuring that the items received will be judiciously utilized.

"This will not be the first time we shall be receiving this kind of assistance from the NCDC. I wish to commend the NCDC for always honouring our request on the supply of PPEs and other intervention."

"I have always maintained that the current administration in the Centre is after the welfare of the entire members of staff, that we shall not deny them their dues and will always watch over their backs in and out of duty," Mr Musa-Olomu said.

Nice. But must you wait for them to improvise, snap then post it before you donate

We are talking about lives here!!!

You know the number of hospitals authorise to treat this virus

Why not distribute these items to them Then put your monitoring team to work

I mean what's the essence of the database the Federal Government is collecting if not for purpose such as this

Polythene bag.. Well if wearing a nylon can prevent one from contacting covid-19, then wearing a nylon on your "rod" can also prevent you from contacting HIV. Well that's good for them. They can now be protected well from the virus.

This is inadequate for COVID19 patients care.

If they dare use only this, majority of them would be covid19 positive.
