Nigeria is famous for being the home of superstars and intellectuals in whatever field they choose to operate and the Nigerian entertainment industry is left in a vacuum as we have a lot of well-educated musicians and celebrities.

There’s no gainsaying that Nigeria is blessed with the best brains and entertainers once the entertainment industry is concerned across the globe.

In no particular order, we have below, 25 youngsters who made our list of top 25 Nigerian under 30 superstars in Nigeria entertainment industry with their educational qualifications and backgrounds.

1. Korede Bello


Korede Bello

Popular Mavin boy, Korede Bello is a Nigerian singer and songwriter currently signed to Mavin Records. He is best known for his hit single “Godwin”, a semi-gospel and pop song which became a national anthem and topped many music charts across Nigeria. Korede started performing at the age of 7 by the stage name ‘African Prince’ and went on to write his first song after forming a music group with a friend while in primary school. He started music professionally by recording songs in the studio while in secondary school before he went on to release his first single “Forever”. He holds a National Diploma certificate after studying Mass Communication at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism he’s also an Associate Member of the Institute of Information Management.
23-year-old Korede is has won different awards including The Headies Award for Best Pop Single, City People Entertainment Award for Pop Artiste of the Year and others.



Korede Bello Educational Backgroud/ Qualification


Korede (English:“harvest”) was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, where he completed his primary and secondary school education. He started performing at the age of 7 and went by the stage name African Prince. While in primary school, Korede Bello went on to write his first song after forming a music group with a friend. He started music professionally by recording songs in the studio while in secondary school, and eventually released his first single “Forever”. He studied Mass Communication at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and holds a Higher National Diploma certificate. Korede Bello is an Associate Member of the Institute of Information Management

Wizkid, the Star Boy

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known as Wizkid, started recording music at the age of 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed. He rose to prominence after releasing “Holla at Your Boy”, the lead single from his debut studio album Superstar in 2011. “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull”, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo” and “Oluwa Lo Ni” were also released as singles from the Superstar album. In February 2014, Wizkid became the first-ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million followers on Twitter. Wizkid in 2016 achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, “One Dance”, which reached number one in 15 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. He also signed in March 2017 with a multi-album deal with RCA Records. Wizkid has collaborated with several other artists and was featured on the hits “Brown Skin Girl” (with Beyonce), “Energy (Stay Far Away)” (with Skepta), “Sexy Mama” (with Iyanya), “Slow Down” (with R2Bees), “The Matter” (with Maleek Berry), “Pull Over” (with KCee) and “Bad Girl” (with Jesse Jagz). Moreover, he became the first Afrobeats artist to appear in the 2018 Guinness World Records for his contribution to “One Dance”. Self-acclaimed Starboy is undoubtedly one of the world’s biggest music stars as well as a monumental superstar. On the 19th of October, 2019, Wizkid made history by being the first African artiste to sell out the O2 Arena in London… twice. Wizkid is 29 years old.



Wizkid Educational Background/Qualification


At his 11 years old Wizkid began singing in church choir. He continued his music path in secondary school. Wizkid school was in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Wizkid’s university education Wizkid started his higher education at Lagos State University, but in the second year, he transferred to Lead City University. Wizkid was in 200 level he dropped out because of his music career.

In 2009 the star began to record his debut studio album called Superstar. A single “Holla at Your Boy” was released in 2010. It was the heyday of his musical career.

Wizkid said this about education: “…I don’t regret stopping school for a bit because it did give me all the time to push and work on my music. I’m definitely going to back to school. Education is very necessary and I hold it in high esteem...” Cyprus University presented Wizkid an award for his contribution to Nigerian music. The lack of higher education does not prevent the singer from winning awards, singing new hits, and recording albums. At one time he sacrificed his education in favor of music. It is difficult to say whether he would have achieved such results if he had continued his studies. Maybe soon we will talk with you about Wizkid’s returning to the university, who knows.
