A rift between two communities in Benue state has left many homes burnt down with valuables like domestic animals and food destroyed.

The communal clash is between Mbagwaza in Ushongu local government and Tsambe in vandeikya local government, both of Benue state.

According to a gathered report, the problem started at a stream in Mbagwaza community where both Tsambe and Mbagwaza take turns to fetch water.

On a faithful day, women line up to fetch water turn by turn, an Mbagwaza woman who complained that people are working on her farm wanted be allowed to fetch water when it was not yet her turn.

The women allowed her to fetch water and go. Minutes later the same woman come back to fetch on her turn, so the women refuse insisting that she fetched before and her turn has passed already.

This resulted into a quarrel, the woman then cried out and called people from Mbagwaza, alleging that Tsambe women are beating her.

The Mbagwaza people started rioting, burning houses in Tsambe and destroying valuables, Tsambe retaliated and started cutting their oranges down.

As at the time of this report, there are many fatalities and countless houses has been destroyed.
